DEPARTMENT: Child Care (Children's for Children)

SUPERVISOR'S TITLE: Manager or Master Teacher



PURPOSE OF POSITION: To assist in planning and implementation of age appropriate activities for the Child Care Center dedicated to the care of infants and children.


  • Education Programming

Collaborate with classroom team to plan, implement and communicate age appropriate activities which facilitate the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of assigned children. Provide responsive, developmentally appropriate care for guiding children's behavior and engagement, such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem solving; and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control. Maintains and demonstrates high-level knowledge of child development and evidence based practice. Complete all classroom closing routines and prepare the environment for next day.

  • Communication and Reporting

Work with lead teacher to complete clear documentation and written reports that facilitate communication with parents, co-workers and regulatory agents including daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters and professional development plans. Use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable and engaged. Relay end of the day information to morning teachers.

  • Assessment and Progress Reporting

Assess each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, information from families and other stake holders. Collaborate and communicate assessment information with the classroom team. Link assessment information with success oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains.

  • Performance Improvement

Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to department discussions. Work with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies

  • Regulatory and Accreditation Compliance

Maintain knowledge of and compliance with NAEYC code of ethics. Maintain knowledge of and compliance with city and state regulations and accreditation requirements governing early education and care programs.

  • Customer Service

Provide non-judgmental support for parents. Respond quickly to parent requests and concerns. Provide information to parents regarding the child's daily experience. Assure information is passed to child's primary caregiver. Provide support to program for late pick up of children.

What You'll Do Here: This position will work closely with Facilities Manager/Coordinator to maintain the Facility and provide the best possible environment for employees. The Facilities Maintenance position will perform preventive maintenance on Cengage-owned equipment, appliances, as well as all building and grounds related equipment including resolving routine electrical and mechanical work orders assigned to them via the Fixit work order system, and act as back-up to the Facilities Coordinator. * Maintain Facility and surrounding grounds to assure a pleasant, clean and safe work environment. * Maintain an accurate record and inventory of all Facility related supplies. * Maintain storage and distribution of all Facility related supplies to appropriate locations. * Perform preventative maintenance of Facility related equipment and initiate repairs when needed. * Maintain the Facility Building and Grounds and performing and/or scheduling related repairs. * Safely use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and materials handling equipment in performing Facility maintenance duties. * Perform a variety of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and general maintenance work as requested. * Complete wiring and the reconfiguration of cubicle work stations. * Detect faulty operations, defective material and report this information to Facility Manager/Coordinator. * Setup/tear down meeting rooms for department meetings, trainings, employee incentive events, facility employee meetings and all such associated company functions. * Perform other duties that are assigned. * Comply with all internal safety regulations as well as OSHA regulations and maintain a clean and orderly Facility and surrounding grounds. Skills You Will Need Here: * High school diploma required. * Technical training/certification preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of building maintenance or equivalent experience required. * Advanced understanding of and aptitude for mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting. * Advanced understanding of and aptitude for HVAC, plumbing, and basic electrical troubleshooting – Certification NOT required but preferred * Ability to safely utilize hand and power tools. * Must be able to safely and repetitively lift up to 60 lbs. * Must be able to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, bend as needed in order to complete required work * Ability to competently utilize a computer and Microsoft Office applications. * Must possess ability to clearly communicate with pertinent details both verbally and in written communications. * Valid driver's license and acceptable DMV background check required for operating Company Vehicle Cengage Learning Cincinnati OH
