Provide guidance, mentoring, and leadership to student teachers. Uphold the mission, vision and values of Fortune School. Working Hours: Monday - Friday 07:00AM - 06:00PM with 1 hour meal period

Comments and Other Information

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

Maintain student health, safety, ratio and supervision at all times according to Title 22 regulations . Assist in caregiving routines such as hand washing, serving meals, diapering, toileting, and naptime. Provide stimulating Reggio inspired educational experiences which promote socio/emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Scaffold lessons and environments to meet the developmental needs of each child.

Plans, implements and evaluates daily instructional activities, including a written activity plan. Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices. Create meaningful relationships through effective communication to regularly engage families in the classroom.

Make learning visible through formal and informal ongoing observation throughout the year. Create and Display a variety of documentation boards. Utilize age appropriate, positive discipline techniques.

Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs. Supervise assistants, volunteers, student teachers; delegate duties in a professional manner. Provide feedback to college instructor regarding lab students, complete lab mentor paperwork.

Ensures the safety, security, cleanliness, and orderliness of the classroom and playground environments Actively participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and school events. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, community, and stakeholders Ability to support and encourage emergent plurilingual learners and family biliteracy. Maintain accurate student records and confidentiality of students and families.

Schedule and conduct twice a year parent/guardian conferences. Complete center paperwork (accident reports, potty logs, observations of children) in a timely manner. Collaborate with the director and parent/guardian regarding possible developmental concerns.

Maintain knowledge of current trends and research in the field of early childhood education. Select and order necessary classroom supplies by request to administration. Address concerns with the Director.

Perform other related duties as required and assigned. Assume a leadership role in the development of the school. Support the mission, vision, and core values of Fortune Schools.

Student Assessment and Monitoring: Experienced in assessment; emphasizing student achievement as the primary outcome of schooling. Ability to assess and monitor student progress.

Able to work with the Director to identify and respond to at-risk students. Can work effectively with families and guardians and others regarding student progress. Maintains policies and practices for assessing the development, reporting, and promoting.

Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles. Knowledge and understanding of Title 22 regulations Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments. Ability and willingness to implement Fortune School Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices.

Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices. Ability to be flexible with daily routines and schedules to capture "nurturing and teachable moments". Ability to remain calm and patient under pressure. Ability to move and react quickly to handle emergencies effectively.

Professional in appearance, attitude and ability. Minimum Educational Level: Option 1: 24 units ECE or CD plus 16 units of General Education Option 2:

Child Development Teacher permit Option 3: BA in ECE or CD Preferences in addition to one of the above: 2 + years of experience in a Preschool as a Teacher Valid First Aid/CPR training, or willingness to obtain. Mandated reporting training (or ability to comply within 30 days) Physical Abilities The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to work indoors or outdoors. Ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Must be able to assume postures in low levels, get up and down from the floor, and engage in physical activity with children. Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency.
