For over 27 years, Cotton Mill Learning Center of Rowlett has of providing high-quality, safe, and loving child care in a dynamic learning environment to our community. Cotton Mill's exclusive curriculum provides a variety of practical life, cultural, and nature-based experiences, as well as age-appropriate academics. We are fully licensed to provide care for children from 18 months through 12 years of age. All Cotton Mill staff members are early childhood professionals who are First Aid and CPR certified and exceed the continuing education requirements each year in Early Childhood Development and Education.
We are looking for early childhood teachers with a love for children and a strong desire to make a difference every day. As a CMLC teacher, you will use our exclusive curriculum to promote social, physical, verbal, and cognitive development and create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and manage multiple situations effectively are essential. Most importantly, the early childhood teacher must have a nurturing, kind, and loving spirit.
Early Childhood Teacher Duties & Responsibilities:
Use CMLC's exclusive thematic curriculum and lesson plan to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can play and learn. (No worrying about creating your own lesson plans and gathering materials; we do it for you so you can focus on your kids!)
Maintain classroom in safe, clean, and organized condition including changing the decor of the classroom regularly, incorporating holidays, themes, children's artwork, etc. to create a fun, welcoming, and stimulating environment for learning and growing
Change diapers and assist parents with potty training
Daily cleaning of the classroom, including straightening shelves, wiping tables, bagging and sending toys to the kitchen to be sanitized, vacuuming carpets/rugs, sweeping and moping tile floor, and cleaning the classroom bathroom thoroughly
Communicate daily with parents about each child's activities
Comply with all Child Care Licensing requirements including training and CPR & First Aid certi fication
Communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously with parents, grandparents, and other family members as well as other staff members
A Typical Day at CMLCAs a CMLC teacher, you'll start your day with Circle Time! Following our thematic lesson plans, youll introduce the art activity for the day, read books that reinforce our unit of study for the week, sing songs and fingerplays, use your weather bear/frog to talk about the days weather, review early math concepts, and use your bulletin board calendar to learn about days of the week, months of the year, and holidays. Then, your class will go to Learning Centers. Your classroom learning centers may include Library, Blocks, Science, Art & Easel, Play Dough, Floor Jobs & Puzzles, Dramatic Play, Table Manipulatives, and Computer. Your class will have a morn ing snack, go outside to ride tricycles, swing, play in the sand box and on the play equipment, or play with sidewalk chalk. Once a week, children ages 3 and up will have a Swimming Lesson in our indoor, heated pool. You will go with your class to the pool room to help provide super vision while our Lifeguard teaches the class. Youll eat lunch in your classroom with your chil dren, then its naptime. After naptime, youll have afternoon snack, Center time, and outside play time again. When the end of the day approaches, you will engage the children with Teach er-Directed activities like games, puzzles, music & dancing, stories, and finger plays. As it nears closing time, we will gather in the Assembly Room.
