Requirements / Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: A minimum of a High school Diploma or GED and 12 units in Early Childhood Education (ECE) and one year of experience in a childcare center.

Education must include 12 units of child development, child-family and community and curriculum. Associate degree (AA) in child development from a two-year college or a Bachelor's degree (BA) in Early Child Development is preferred. Credentials, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Preschool Teacher certificate is preferred. CPR/First Aid certification, cleared live scan fingerprint and cleared TB test are required

Head of Schools Approved Date: Summary: Guides and instructs preschool students with curriculum and activities in a safe and developmentally-appropriate classroom under the direction of the Director of Preschool. The Preschool Teacher models a servant's heart and promotes an attitude of respect, teamwork and professionalism by speaking well of other faculty and staff members; supporting our entire school system-lower school, middle school, upper school; praying for and with other faculty and staff; encouraging others in Godly living and excellence; lovingly holding others accountable; actively pursuing ways to encourage members of the schools. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.) ? Develop and implement developmentally appropriate preschool lessons for young children. ? Instructs students by lecturing, demonstrating, and using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement presentations ? Prepares course objectives and outline for course of study following curriculum guidelines or requirements of the school ? Assigns lessons and corrects homework, quizzes, tests, projects, etc. in a timely manner ? Administers tests to evaluate pupil progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress ? Maintains attendance records ? Maintains discipline in classroom and demonstrates effective classroom management skills ? Communicates with parents to discuss student progress and problems ? Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops, and independent educational study for growth ?
