JOB SUMMARY

Serve as a leader of the Preschool Program at Marcus Autism Center. The Preschool Program consists of three classrooms where children with and without autism spectrum disorder (ASD) between 2 and 5 years of age learn together. The Preschool Supervisor reports to the co-Directors of the Education Sciences Research Core at Marcus Autism Center, oversees the Preschool Program's teaching staff (about nine full-time teachers), is responsible for the day-to-day operation and coordination of the program, and helps implement the program's vision.

EDUCATION

  • A four-year degree in the early care education field (e.g., bachelor's degree in [1] early childhood education, [2] child development, or [3] an unrelated field paired with specialized training in early childhood education)

CERTIFICATION SUMMARY

  • First Aid & CPR (within 30 days of employment)
  • Valid/Current satisfactory Comprehensive Records Check Determination (must be completed in accordance with DECAL requirements)
  • Has completed a 40-hr. Director's Training course that has been approved by Bright from the Start (within 30 days of employment)

EXPERIENCE*

  • Five years of experience teaching young children birth to age five, preferably in Lead Teacher or Director roles

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Experience teaching students with ASD

  • Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC) teaching certificate

  • Master's degree in the early care/early education field (incl. early childhood special education, management/administration of educational programs.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES*

  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate classroom procedures for young children birth to age five, including positive behavioral support strategies

  • Conceptual understanding of the GELDS standards and experience using these standards to specify learning outcomes

  • Familiarity with DECAL Rules and Regulations for operating Child Care Learning Centers

  • Ability to mentor teachers and create a collaborative team culture

  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and communication skills

  • Excellent organizational and program management skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*
1.Ensure compliance with DECAL Rules and Regulations for operating Child Care Learning Centers
2.Managing application, oversight, and reporting for Pre-K grant
3.Day-to-day staff management (e.g. schedule, absences/PTO, onboarding)
4.Teacher supervision (monitor teacher fidelity, parent communication and conferences, child progress monitoring, lesson plans, annual reviews, mentoring)
5.Administrative parent communication (e.g., behavioral/attendance issues, billing/invoices, whole-school communications)
6.Interface with the Finance department for purchasing (i.e., materials/supplies) and billing (tuition/fees)
7.Coordinate recruitment/enrollment of new students (tours, observations, classroom visits)
8.Onboarding and supervision of preschool volunteers and practicum students
9.Maintain parent handbook, employee manual, and website content
10. Hold monthly staff meetings and participate in weekly team meetings
11. Substitute teaching in case of PTO

Reviews medical records to obtain physician-assigned evaluation and management procedure coding, CPT, and ID-9/10 codes for posting, cross walk of physician-assigned evaluation and management procedure coding to match final patient status, and resolution of all in-scope billing edits within charge review work queues.
