The Teaching Assistant (TA) supports all students and assists the respectively-licensed educator in the delivery of preschool curricula. The TA supports classroom learners including students in special education programs.
TAs are trained and supported by classroom teachers, school administrators, and support staff. Responsiblities include:
Provides academic, behavioral and/ or emotional support for students during the day.
Prepares instructional material for students.
Assists with any special area classes.
Assists with the management of individual student and classroom behavior.
Participates and completes mandatory and elective professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Advanced degree with 1-3 years of previous TA experience is a plus.
The successful candidate will work in an integrated preschool classroom and have experience and/or interest in working with students with special needs. The days and hours of the position are:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Occasionally may need to assist students with standing, sitting, organizational functions or other related general physical tasks.
Salary and Benefits:
The anticipated starting salary range for School Year 2019-2020 is $17.21/hour to $22.25/hour, with possible movement to the top step of $23.09/hour. Teaching Assistants are paid 10 holidays and an additional 7.5 vacation days over school vacations.
Those working more than twenty (20) hours per week qualify for medical, dental and ife insurance, as well as membership in the Town's pension system.
