POSITION: ON MY WAY PRE-K PARAPROFESSIONAL
REPORTS TO: Classroom Instructor/Building Principal/Administrator
SUMMARY:
180 Days.
Assist and support instructional staff in a variety of instructional and related pre-school activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Be present, on time and ready to work.
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff.
Assist students individually and in small groups with seatwork and other assignments.
Assist students with group projects.
Assist substitute instructors by providing necessary information on classroom routine and students' needs in the regular instructors' absence.
Assist with class record keeping such as attendance.
Assist in supervision of students at restrooms, and on playground as directed by instructor/and or principal.
Escort students on trips outside the classroom under the direction of the instructor.
Assist in emergency evacuation or protection of students as assigned.
Attend to toileting, feeding, locomotion, and personal hygiene needs of students as needed.
Model appropriate interaction skills, social skills, and conflict management in the school environment.
Assist with classroom organization and management as directed.
Observe and record student behavior as directed.
Assist students with adaptive devices as needed.
Assist with clerical duties.
Participate in pre-service and in-service training programs.
Perform other duties as assigned by the instructor or building administrator.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Be familiar with the preschool curriculum.
Possess interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Must complete training that will be available through online modules or professional development, this training will be provided for your prospective job.
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Possess strong oral and written communication skills.
REASONING ABILITY:
Must be able to problem solve.
