The Medford Township Public Schools is looking for a Preschool Intervention and Referral Specialists (PIRS) to play a critical role in ensuring all preschool children have access to high-quality, inclusive educational experiences. By addressing challenging behaviors, facilitating individualized support plans, and promoting effective teaching strategies, the PIRS collaborates with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to foster an environment conducive to school success.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in Preschool, with preferred experience in an area such as Speech, Occupational Therapy and/or BCBA.

This position is tenure track and accrues seniority. The salaries listed below represent the 2024-2025 negotiated salaries for BA Step 1 (minimum) and MA+60 Step 16 (maximum). Actual salary is commensurate to experience and education. As per the negotiated agreement between the Medford Education Association and the Board of Education, Benefits are offered for single coverage in Years 1 and 2. Year 3 is two-party, and Year 4+ offers full family benefits.

Other Requirements:

  • NJ Instructional Certificate, Educational Services Certificate, or relevant certification (e.g., Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant, School Psychologist, School Social Worker);
  • BCBA certification is highly desirable;
  • Background in mental health, social work, psychology, sociology, or education preferred;
  • At least three years of experience teaching in preschool and/or Special Education programs;
  • Experience in implementing developmentally appropriate preschool curricula and interventions;
  • Experience with a wide range of appropriate early childhood performance-based and classroom quality assessment instruments;
  • Experience providing professional development to classroom teachers; and
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with staff, families, and administrators.
