NATURE OF POSITION: Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of lesson plans in the daily preschool program for children within an assigned age group. This individual will support the Lead Teacher with implementing positive child management in the classroom and assist in assuring that program performance standards are met. The Assistant may also provide wrap around care with the after school program, modeling and guiding appropriate child care practices within the center.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or general education degree (GES)

• Associates Degree in early childhood, preschool education or child development or Child Development Associate (CDA) certification, preferred

• Previous experience in preschool or early childhood program

• Strong communication and instructional skills

• CPR / First Aid Certification

• Ability to work well with children and adults

• Maintain a genuine interest in helping children in their educational and developmental process

• Able to work flexible hours as needed for family involvement activities including conferences, open house, family nights, etc.

• Basic clerical skills and operation knowledge of copy machine and visual aid equipment
