The Technical Account Manager for Proxy is a solutions expert focused on Symantec's network protection line of web security products who serves as a trusted advisor proactively helping their assigned customers maximize their investment in Symantec. They drive adoption and consumption of Symantec solutions, assisting customers to realize optimal security posture and respond rapidly when issues arise.


  • Maintain knowledge of Symantec Web Security solutions and integrations/interoperability within the assigned customer environments

  • Understand how our customers are utilizing SYMANTEC's Web Security solutions and recommend additional features that can be leveraged to increase their security posture

  • Ensure customer configuration aligns with recommended best practices

  • Build trusted relationships with relevant technical and management stakeholders in assigned accounts

  • Develop and proactively manage strong relationships with internal personnel in related functional areas of SYMANTEC

  • Serve as the technical point of contact and customer advocate to ensure that issues are resolved quickly and efficiently

  • Alert and advise customers around critical vulnerabilities and software updates

  • Some travel may be required to assigned customer locations

  • Be available after hours for customer emergencies on occasion

  • Invest in ongoing self-development to acquire industry relevant skills necessary to satisfy your customer's needs


  • Minimum of one year's commercial experience within the information technology industry

  • University Degree and/or relevant industry qualifications (CISSP, Security +,CEH ) desired

  • Experience with customer facing technical service delivery

Must have strong interpersonal and effective communication skills

  • Experience with the on-premises portion of the Symantec Web Security core is preferred:

  • Secure Web Gateway (ProxySG/ASG)

  • Content Analysis (CA)

  • Malware Analysis Appliance (MAA)

  • SSL Visibility (SSLV)

  • Management Center (MC)

  • Experience with network troubleshooting using the Wireshark packet analyzer tool required

  • Recent experience supporting Symantec ProxySG, Content Analysis or SSL Visibility is highly regarded.

  • A top secret security clearance and ability to work with US government accounts is highly regarded

Overview of the Duty Manager Role The Duty Manager reports to Senior Management in the Customer Support organization in each Geography, working directly with Symantec Customers, Partners, and Sales teams to provide world class support for Symantec products. The Duty Manager is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction in escalated situations by involving Support Managers to take action to resolve customer issues. The Duty Manager will be the initial customer contact entry point for Customer, Partner and Sales Escalations. The role's primary responsibility is to holistically own customer escalations by triaging issues and ensuring technical support resources are allocated to deliver timely response and resolution to customers issues with Symantec products. Responsibilities include setting & managing customer expectations, engaging Support Management for resource allocation, measuring the performance and identifying process improvement Responsibilities * The Duty Manager is the single point of contact for escalation requests submitted by or on behalf of Customers, Partners and Sales Teams across all contract levels (Basic, Essential, and Business Critical) * Receives, reviews, and triages escalation requests, assesses case status and escalation content, and liaises with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Managers * Negotiates with a wide variety of contacts (Sales Account Managers, Business Critical Account Managers, Team Managers, Engineers, Global Support Representatives) to reach an agreement on the best course of action * Develop and work with Support resources to communicate action plans, progress and updates to internal and external stake holders * Follow-The-Sun Case Handoff reception, acknowledgement and dispatch within Service Level Goals * Acts as Subject Matter Expert on Global Procedure Guide Standards and best practices, maintaining focus on process consistency and customer experience * Proactively engage executives as appropriate to improve customer relationships and demonstrate company's commitment to the customer at the highest levels * Champion how Customers, Partners, and Sales Teams engage with Support * Provide Coaching when received escalations on improper use of the Duty Manager * Provide post-escalation analysis reporting that will capture and help drive process improvements throughout the organization * Provide daily, weekly, summary of escalation activity, highlights, critical issues and resolution plans to Customer Support leadership Essential Requirements * Highly effective communicator, with the ability to manage and implement necessary change, quickly and effectively, in a highly dynamic environment * The ability to work under extreme pressure and adapt communication style to the audience, while not being fazed by any eventuality * The ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of the requirements of all Symantec's customers, from small businesses, to large corporate customers. * Drive and maintain the highest level of customer satisfaction * Excellent communication skills to engage staff and assign work, in a highly demanding environment * A proven capability to be flexible * Should have flexible working hours and be available to work weekends * Ability to engage management as appropriate to improve relationships and to demonstrate commitment to the customer at the highest levels * Ability to analyze information and utilize the results, within very short timeframes Qualifications * 2 to 3+ years of experience required in an IT Service Desk or Support Services environment * Expertise in service delivery or account management in a post or presales environment is desired * ITSM (ITIL) Foundation Certificate or similar industry-recognized certification desired * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience desired * Profound understanding of Service Delivery and Quality, Metrics and Customer Experience desired * Must be fluent in verbal and written English * Established experience in Call Management & Case Management applications #LI-JR1 ======================================== Symantec is an equal opportunity employer.
