Responsibilities

Premium Auditor responsibilities include:

  • Individually scheduling appointments with clients to obtain necessary information

  • Submitting projects via web-portal and AFIRM's exclusive premium auditing software

  • Contacting clients and communicating via phone, email, and face to face discussions

  • Examining commercial businesses' payroll and tax records

  • Evaluating operational practices

  • Adhering to customer requirements and quality standards

  • Maintaining confidentiality and acting with integrity

Qualifications

Qualifications for the ideal Independent Contractor:

  • Act with professionalism and urgency

  • Ability to observe and evaluate business operations and write recommendations

  • Excellent skills in time management, verbal /written communications, and web-based applications

  • A functional home office including a laptop (suggested but not required)

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Bookkeeping or accounting experience is helpful

  • Requires basic knowledge and education in premium auditing

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for the performance of assigned audits in order to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of American Enterprise Group, Inc.'s risk management, control, and governance processes. Prepares oral and written communications to management in the form of audit reports, audit observations, and status of audit progress. Assists in the development of the annual audit plan and enterprise risk management assessments. Completion of assignments is done generally independently, without significant direction from the Audit Services and Risk Management Director, and is more collaborative in nature. CORE FUNCTIONS * Perform moderately complex assurance and consulting reviews of assigned processes through evaluating the effectiveness of their risk management, control, and governance processes. * Formulate informed and objective audit observations and recommendations through root cause analysis and review of audit evidence. * Provide clear direction to management by presenting noted observations, risks, and possible solutions orally and through formal reports. * Responsible for assisting external auditors with the performance of interim and year-end external audit, and assisting in coordination of any regulatory financial examination * Identifies opportunities for improvement within existing Company processes that could have a potential financial benefit to the Company. * Coordinate annual updates to the commercial insurance program by working closely with business unit leaders. * Keep abreast of auditing, accounting, information technology, industry, and regulatory trends. * Review, assist, and/or train junior auditors, audit interns, or audit contractors in the performance of their job function. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES * Ability to proactively deal with change. Making change part of "business as usual." * Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate technical and complex topics in a way that is understandable to those less experienced.
