ABOUT YOUR JOB:
The Premium Accounting Representative performs routine premium accounting/clerical activities with general knowledge of premium accounting transactions requiring collection of premiums, assembling and auditing accounts, processing and posting of account cash, reconciliation of account discrepancies and preparation of various reports. Verifies contracts, policy information and account status. Responsible for maintaining a relationship with insureds, agents, and underwriters in a specified territory.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine premium accounting functions
Responsible for insurance customer billing, accounts receivable, and commission payments
Provides service to customers regarding types of payments and reconciles accounts
Handles collections, lapses, and reinstatements
Provides service to brokers and sales personnel regarding commissions
Handles communication to insureds, agents, and underwriters in regards to payments and policy status
This role has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
AA or 2-year degree required. 1 year of customer billing and accounts receivable experience, and experience with automated accounting systems preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of basic math and accounting concepts is required. Working knowledge and skills of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word required, and experience with automated accounting systems preferred. Ability to understand and carry out simple instructions in standard situations. Must be Customer service oriented with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and must have some understanding of collection procedures.
