In 2012 G4S and Lincolnshire Police formed a Strategic Partnership and we are now currently looking for individuals who are interested in joining us as a Premises Maintenance Operative at Force Headquarters in Nettleham.
Working in a team undertaking general caretaking and porterage duties, including first line maintenance of systems, H&S checks and grounds maintenance as required. Duties also include driving a variety of vehicles and responsibility for the checking, routine maintenance and cleaning of caretaker vehicles and transportation of goods, equipment and personnel to various locations. Create and maintain positive communications to ensure effective working relationships with individuals, teams and colleagues.
Provide first line response for repair and maintenance of fixtures and fittings including small painting and decorating tasks. Reporting to the Facilities Services Helpdesk when an external contractor is required.
Responsible for undertaking and recording Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks and H&S checks including the testing of fire alarms, disabled toilet alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, automatic doors, panic alarms, passenger lifts and smoke detectors. Reporting to the Facilities Services Helpdesk when an external contractor is required.
Responsible for daily plant room checks to ensure all building equipment e.g. boilers, generators etc. are not in fault and running correctly.
Porterage duties including the preparation of meeting rooms for meetings/conferences/special events including provision and clearance of equipment, drinks etc.
To undertake office accommodation moves as required.
Grounds maintenance tasks (grass cutting, weeding and pruning shrubs) and keeping clean and tidy the building surrounds, including garages and car wash. Snow clearance and gritting of paths and walkways during bad weather.
Collecting and delivering Police vehicles to enable maintenance tasks to be carried out and any other driving duties.
Periodic cleaning and tidying of the Fleet Workshop area including waste removal.
The role will also support the Fleet Maintenance Department with decommissioning activities when necessary.
Work extra hours when required at short notice or using own initiative e.g. inclement weather gritting duties etc.
Utilise email and Excel spreadsheets to update work tasks.

Essential Skills and Knowledge
Hold a full driving licence for manual cars.
Experience and confidence in driving a variety of vehicles
Experience of general DIY and equipment maintenance
Demonstrate driving skills in order to pass the police basic driving test
Practical building maintenance skills

Be a competent user of Microsoft Office packages
Good organisational skills able to plan, prioritise and coordinate activities

Desirable Skills and Knowledge
Experience of caretaking and grounds maintenance
Hold a full driving licence with category D1.
Experience and knowledge of routine vehicle checks and cleaning
Basic knowledge of electrics, plumbing and/or joinery
