This position is responsible for generating and increasing residential mortgage lending market share, with a primary focus on the Premium Customer (i.e. premier and advance) segment, through origination of high quality residential mortgage loans within HSBC's marketing area while ensuring high customer service levels. Fosters, manages and expands relationships with Premier customer segment.

Impact on the Business

  • Attain individual mortgage and Premium loan production goals while maintaining Company standards related to application to funding thresholds.

  • Operate within annual budgeted expense guidelines, including travel and entertainment, marketing/network functions, etc.

  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell and/or refer HSBC specialists to provide additional financial tools and services to support client needs in pursuit of efforts to establish and/or broaden client relationship with HSBC.

Customers / Stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain long-term relationships with appropriate centers of influence to drive origination activities, including, but are not limited to Premier Relationship Managers, realtors, builders, attorneys, Financial Advisors and other external sources.

  • Counsel customers on various types of mortgage financing, choosing a program best suited to their needs; complete mortgage application, follow through to closing and resolve any problems, while ensuring salability (as applicable) and compliance with proscribed guidelines.

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Support, endorse and contribute to team environment in serving assigned bank branches.

  • Collaborate with Premier Relationship Managers, Financial Advisors, etc. to identify and deliver financial solutions to meet our customers' needs

Operational Effectiveness & Control

  • To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.

  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned

  • Minimum of two years proven mortgage and customer service experience or equivalent is preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field preferred.

  • Strong sales, interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Agency (Fannie Mae/ Freddie Mac) guidelines for standard conventional mortgage lending programs as well as applicable affordable housing financing tools preferred.

  • Knowledge of HUD insured (FHA/VA) mortgage products and programs preferred.

  • Experience with portfolio and relationship lending is preferred.

  • Broad knowledge of financial services products and services preferred.

  • Incumbents in this role must successfully register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) and must obtain a unique identifier through the registry that will be provided to consumers with whom the incumbent interacts. In addition, incumbents in this role must successfully renew their registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) annually.

All quantitative modeling related to market and interest rate risk on the bank's mortgage products is concentrated in the Mortgage Modeling Center of Excellence. This group does not only support the consumer banking mortgage activities, but also the bank's trading activities and investment portfolio positions in mortgage products. The senior quantitative modeler will be in charge of developing prepayment and default behavior models for agency and non-agency mortgages, the development of interest rate and other models to support the pricing of mortgage products, ongoing monitoring and research related to mortgage model performance and the all end implementation and testing of and research into the group's internal and vendor pricing models. Depending on experience and background, the candidate may focus on a subset of these areas. A successful candidate must have strong expertise in prepayment and default modeling and / or interest rate products modeling, be familiar with Agency and Non-Agency Database and be familiar with Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) valuation, OAS framework and risk analysis. Key duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to: * Design, estimate, implement, test, document and maintain statistical models for prepayment, default, loss severity forecasting, HPI forecasting of agency and non-agency mortgages * Working independently on development, testing, and implementation of OAS valuation, Risk Management and Statistical models for Mortgage Servicing Rights, Mortgage Backed Securities and Vanilla and Exotic Interest Rate * Conducting ongoing maintenance and research on models for risk management of mortgage and fixed-income products * Developing model performance metrics like statistical back tests or P&L explanation analysis * Handle and evaluate extensive varied database from multiple internal and external sources * Deliver business-oriented communications for internal and external counterparts Required Qualifications * 4+ years of experience in an advanced scientific or mathematical field * A master's degree or higher in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering, physics, economics, or computer science * 2+ years of financial industry experience Other Desired Qualifications * Strong experience in developing and building prepayment and default models. * Demonstrated experience in handling mortgage database (1010/embs/loan performance corelogic) * Solid understanding of financial mathematics and models including, OAS framework, Monte Carlo simulation, LMM model, (exotic) interest rate derivatives models and mortgage analytics * Perfect command of SAS/R or Python and SQL and relational database.
