Premedia Trafficking Supervisor
I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.
Process and route digital files for assigned Print publications and products internally and to assigned printers/distribution channels, adhering to all deadlines. Inspect, compare, and approve/reject files, ensuring work has been completed as directed. Premedia Trafficking Supervisor will consistently perform at a level that meets or exceeds performance standards, as established by Assistant Director.
II. Essential Job Functions
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Manage flow of materials (electronic files, images, documents) between internal and external parties. Review/compare upfront corrections; assess printability of materials including files supplied by third parties; and direct, troubleshoot, and correct, as needed, leveraging various department technologies. Review and approve final files and send completed materials to printers; includes hard proofs as required by printers or clients. Perform post-production tasks such as packaging files for archiving and delivering to clients/customers.
Perform image manipulation in Photoshop on an as-needed basis.
Assist in maintaining operation's accounting procedures, including daily tracking of jobs, schedule adherence, time spent per job/piece of work, and image/proof cycle reporting. Use reporting to drive improvements in color cycle rounds and schedule adherence. Provide ongoing feedback to Assistant Director and Quality staff based upon reporting.
Operate all equipment, including Epson proofers, and perform all processes required to produce the items in the department's product line in a manner that ensures quality and efficiency. Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, as needed, in collaboration with Quality staff.
Complete special tasks as requested.
III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.
High school graduate. Technical trade school training in graphic arts preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Understanding of Print Premedia process desired.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator desired. Exposure to workflow management systems, such as WoodWing and K4, Digital Asset Management software, and soft-proofing technology a plus.
Possess good verbal and written communication and organizational skills. Demonstrate attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work well with people at all levels and provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients.
Must be highly motivated and self-directed, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while working under time constraints and pressure to meet changing deadlines. Requires working on computers in low-light situations for extended time periods.
