Tuff Shed, the industry leader in storage buildings and garages, is currently looking for construction/laborers/builders for our manufacturing facility in Charlotte.

Duties include painting, cutting lumber or plywood, assembling wall sections, trusses, doors, or any other fabricating and assembly duties associated with the construction of the Tuff Shed storage buildings.

  • Ability to carry out instructions communicated in writing, orally, or in diagram form

  • Ability to read a tape measure, working drawings, and speed square

  • Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, hammer, saw, drill, and other basic power tools

  • Ability to add and subtract in all units of standard US measures, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at least 100 feet

  • Current valid driver's license and satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report preferred

If so, this could be the right opportunity for you. In this key role you will manage our Construction department of schedulers, on site managers as well as sub-contractors. You will direct all construction operations for the Pulp, Paper, Energy and Service business units for North America. The primary focus is to ensure the completion of the work according to the agreed upon schedule while maintaining our contractual commitments and ensuring effective cost management of each project. As the Manager over this department, you will be able to put your leadership skills to work in order to ensure that all construction activities are well managed from the bid stage, planning, engineering, procurement, construction to project closeout. Below are some of the primary responsibilities of this new and challenging role: * Support Sales in expanding current construction work scope, developing and preparing proposals and pricing strategies. * Qualifies contractors and follows up on performance. * Develops scope of work, prepare budgets, solicits bids and proposals from qualified contractors. * Defines and communicates roles, responsibilities and authorities to team members to ensure construction projects are completed in a safe manner, within budget, on schedule, and in conformance with the appropriate standards, specifications and applicable regulatory requirements * Ensures objectives are defined, best practices and lessons learned reviewed, detailed work plans, schedules, budgets and procedures are established. * Implements and maintains a change order management control system. * Facilitates the development, communication, implementation, update and continual use of construction project schedules and cost reports. * Reviews construction project progress and performance, looks for early warning of deviations from schedules and cost estimates, and identifies corrective actions to be taken. * Identifies quality requirements and ensures the proper processes are identified and implemented to achieve contractual quality commitments. * Act as a Site Construction Manager during peak work load periods. * Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures. * Strive to maintain a zero-incident workplace by enforcing and following Corporate Safety requirements. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: We're looking for candidates with a minimum of a 2 year associates degree and preferably a four-year degree from a University in Engineering or Construction Management; plus a minimum of ten years experience in a related role. Pulp & Paper and/or Energy industry experience is required. Solid leadership and change management skills required, including a high sense of urgency, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines under pressure, as well as have the interpersonal skills to influence and collaborate with others in order to complete the task at hand. Must be willing to travel up to 75% of time - especially during peak start up projects. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
