Applicants beyond fifty (50) miles may still be considered.Job SummaryFarmers Group (Woodland Hills, CA) seeks a Predictive Analytics Manager to be responsible for contributing to the development and implementation of predictive analytics through the application of advanced statistical and analytical techniques in order to deliver data driven insights supporting business objectives. Specific duties include: use appropriate statistical and mathematic modeling techniques to address business needs, such as solving a problem with the appropriate level of analysis, and not over engineering a process if not necessary (5%); contribute to the continuous improvement of the statistical and mathematic modeling process, an internal process that can always be improved by adding best practice or updating steps (5%); contribute to the development of new modeling techniques and procedures by research and testing of custom codes on new techniques to solve problems (15%); perform appropriate evaluation of model performance (5%); develop various statistical and mathematic programs including predictor and response variable programs (10%); review statistical and mathematic programs to ensure they conform to quality standards by reviewing completed work with the internal team and any applicable audits (10%); communicate statistical and mathematic models to audiences outside of the department, coordinate with business leads to develop understanding, engagement, and branding by creating and presenting dashboards, PowerPoint decks and visualizations (10%); continuously deepen knowledge of insurance industry practices across multiple disciplines by conducting online research and attending local user groups and conferences (5%); provide thought leadership for business issues facing moderate degrees of complexity (10%); review results from their analyses or from junior modelers' analyses and make recommendations to R&D management (20%); perform other functions, such as efficiency improvement in various processes, as assigned (5%). Option to work remotely with required travel to local offices as needed, if within 50 miles of remote worksite..Position requires a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Data Science, Quantitative Finance, or a closely related field of study, 3 years of experience in the job offered, or as a Data Science Analyst, Quantitative Analyst, Predictive Analyst, Senior Predictive Analyst, or similar position in predictive analytics. Must have 3 years of experience with each of the following: programming in SAS, R and Python; VBA programming; and programming and using database tools SQL and Power BI. Specific experience must also include: data cleaning and validation (identifying outliers, exceptions, and inconsistencies); data quality control and visualization; statistical and predictive modeling techniques including machine learning, probability networks, association rules, clustering, linear regression, generalized linear modeling, time series, and decision trees; neural networks and their application to business decisions; and working in cross-functional teams.
