The Pre-Construction Engineer is entry level and typically filled by an upcoming or recent college graduate. This position will be responsible for creating the best energy management solution for our customers. To do this, the candidate will have the opportunity to learn about building management, security management, and network management solutions. They will also learn how to tender manage customer RFPs (request for pricing) by coordinating bid requirements, such as material cost, labor, subcontractor, proper risk mitigation and proposal presentation. He or she will interpret plans, specifications, and develop solutions that maximize profitability and add value for the customer while adhering to the company's quality and approval processes.

This role works under direct supervision of a remote Pre-Construction Manager. Collaboration with sales and operations is critical to the delivery of a complete package for our customer. In addition, this role will attend and eventually conduct various meetings throughout the project, including hand-off and design review.

What do you get to do in this position?

  • Tender Manage customer requests for pricing (RFPs)

  • Attend and run pre-bid meetings, and site walk-through for potential projects

  • Review and interpret customer specifications/drawings to ensure quote is technically compatible and competitive

  • Understand, analyze, document, and communicate technical terms and conditions relative to the company standard

  • Develop detailed scope letters and optimal system designs

  • Prioritize assigned projects in order to meet sales schedule

  • Maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships

  • May travel for exposure to learn effective sales techniques and design construction

This job might be for you if:

  • Four (4) year Engineering college degree required

  • Knowledge of contract documents, drawings, and specifications desirable

  • Must have good interpersonal and teamwork skills, and ability to communicate well verbally and in writing

  • Should be proficient with computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite

  • Process and detail oriented

The Project Engineer will be responsible for organizing, and controlling project activities under the direction of the Project Manager, so will need to be well versed in the "construction" processes and have knowledge in specifically Restaurants. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: * Document Control; Subcontracts, detailed scope of work preventing scope gaps, subcontract change orders, RFI's, submittals * Assist the Project Manager in the drafting and issuance of project proposals, RFP's, budgets, cash flows and preliminary schedules * Attend client meetings and assist with determination of project requirements * Prepare project organization and communication charts * Chair site meetings and distribute minutes to all project team members * Track the progress and quality of work being performed by disciplines/trades * Use project scheduling and control tools to monitor projects plans, work hours, budgets and expenditures * Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team * Ensure clients' needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner * Track field inspection reports throughout the lifecycle of the project · * Assist the PM in the review of Contractor quotations to ensure that only fair and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval * Track & manage contemplated change notices and change orders * Prepare substantial completion certificates and ensure all required project close out documents are obtained * Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others * Keep the Project Manager and other Team Members informed about project status and issues that may impact the schedule and/or client relations QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be able to read plans & perform take-offs as you will be asked to do so in your interview * Experience in the Construction Field and/or Project/Construction Management working under a General Contractor. * 3-5 years of experience supporting Project Management in the delivery of projects * Computer literate and proficient in MS Project and/or ProCore and the MS Office Suite of products. * Familiarity with construction methods and the building codes * Understanding of kitchen equipment, Health Codes and installation. * Strong sense of presence - * Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills is a MUST. * Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team based environment * Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities * Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills BENEFITS: * Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance * Life Insurance * Paid Vacation * Major Holiday Pay - 10 Days * Sick Days * 401K We are searching and contacting "local" candidates to Southern California only.
