Job Summary

This is a short-term, contract, lecturer appointment, which will provide instruction for a non-credit bearing course for the following program:

Precollegiate Development Program: June 10th - July 3, 2024

Who We Are

The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement partners with communities across Colorado and beyond to provide first-generation and low-income students and their families with comprehensive college preparation and social development programs.

These programs help support students academically and personally while in middle and high school and prepare them to transition successfully to postsecondary opportunities.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

As an instructor you will be expected to:

  • Attend the class(es) you were hired to teach and manage the classroom.

  • Enter grades, plan lessons, and submit a copy of the course syllabi to CUUB Director.

  • Create duties for the Instructor's Assistant in the classroom.

  • Attend required training sessions and weekly staff meetings.

  • Maintain active communication with Director of the program.

What You Should Know

  • Participants of our programs are primarily first-generation students, with other marginalized identities (such as low-income, LGBTQ+, immigrant status, ethnically diverse, etc.), thus we require the instructor to have experience supporting and teaching our diverse student population.

  • This position requires you to teach in-person.

  • We strongly encourage the instructor to use a web based platform for course deliverables and materials (if applicable).

  • The Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement can provide, at no cost to the instructor, course materials and printing if requests are made at least two weeks in advance.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for these positions will be $1,619 - $1,892.

What We Require

  • BA/Masters or Ph.D. in the field, and several years of teaching at the college level.

  • The selected candidate must attend a PCDP System training day at Denver.

  • The selected candidate must attend TA/Instructor Training on June 5, 2024.

  • The Summer Program starts Monday, June 10, 2024 through Wednesday, July 3, 2024 (3.5 weeks).

  • Hired individual will need to do a Background Check.

  • Position offer letter will need to be signed immediately.

What You Will Need

  • Ability to create an inclusive environment for students and fellow staff.

  • Ability to travel to the University and get around campus independently.

  • Ability to use classroom technology for class instruction.

  • Ability to support web-based software to deliver and provide course resources.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with program directors, addressing any program concerns.

  • Teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Interpersonal and organizational skills.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • The ideal applicant will have taught for a UCB Pre-Collegiate Program and worked with rising high school seniors.

  • Experience working as part of a team and working with diverse communities.
