Job Summary

Assembles and/or modifies electronic components, subassemblies and systems by following specific instructions. Assists in working with other less experienced assemblers.

Essential Functions and Competencies

  • Assemble PCBs of highest degree of dexterity and skill/knowledge

  • May perform inspection of other employee's work

  • Use most sophisticated tooling to perform operations

  • Recommend process improvements to management and engineering

  • Serve as mentor and may be back-up to Team Leader or Supervisor

Qualifications / Education / Experience

  • Read and follow assembly prints, work instructions, drawings, procedures and specifications used in the manufacturing of PCBs

  • Identify by sight workmanship and material defects in touch-up and assembly areas and may be able to suggest basic changes to the work instructions to improve operations in these areas

  • Perform tasks with a high degree of care and attention to details while maintaining a clean and safe work environment

  • Assemble electronic components, assemblies, and modules by working from samples, visual aids, wiring lists and process sheets

  • Maintain accurate material control within the work area

  • Perform inspection of own work in immediate working unit

  • Participate in providing timely feedback to other operations, management and support engineering, as appropriate 2+ years of specialized/more complex PCB and/or Optics assembly; 2+ years of experience mentoring others

Role Overview Troubleshoot to component level, plans, assembles, disassembles, reworks and, performs engineering development and qualification tests on various aircraft components and systems. Analyzes and evaluates test results to verify that required parameters have been maintained. Typical duties/tasks include (but not limited to): * Follows blueprints, guidelines, and/or diagrams to ensure product specifications and tolerance levels are met * Performs functional testing per part specific pre-established test procedure * Monitors tests through completion, record test data, and service test equipment as required * Documents acceptance or failure results * Troubleshoot to component level * Demonstrates proper use of simple hand/machine tools, electronic/manual test equipment and mechanical measuring devices * Performs proper loading and unloading of electronic equipment in test beds * Complies with applicable elements of quality systems and participates in continuous improvement efforts (ACE) * Meets internal and external customer deadlines as determined by team * Acquires applicable skill/knowledge/certification as required * Complies with safety and hazardous waste disposal programs * Follows plans for production schedules and quality requirements * Understands end use of manufactured products * Proficiently uses computer tools such as SAP and accurately follows work instructions * Demonstrates initiative to keep processes moving and on schedule * Trains others for technical tasks as needed * Interfaces with other functional groups to update, inform, acknowledge or resolve problems related to business issues * Participates in waste minimization efforts * Participates in audits * Requests tools and supplies in accordance with project requirements as needed. Physical Demands (representative) * Transport product with or without product carts; * Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted; * Sit and or stand at workbench / machines / flow line for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, reach, turn as required; use hands for extended periods of time to perform assembly (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation); utilize magnification devices for extended periods of time to perform verification, assembly & soldering; distinguish colors and meet vision requirements Work Environment Characteristics (representative) * Work with manual / light power tools, products of various weights and sizes, high air pressure, medium to high temperature equipment / materials, enclosed x-ray and laser machines, equipment with moving parts, chemicals and adhesives that may emit fumes. * Wear static-control and personal protective equipment.
