Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire a Pre-Certification Clerk who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. The Pre-Certification Clerk is responsible for the primary function of requesting pre-authorization and obtaining clinical notes (if necessary), to obtain the pre-authorization for patients to receive imaging services. They assist with the verification/ coordination of pre-authorization for worker's compensation claims, accident or personal injury cases MRI, CT, Bone Density, and any radiology exams requiring pre-authorization. They process incoming calls regarding worker's compensation claims, inform the front desk if a patient is coming for a procedure if a co-payment/co-insurance is required, if the deductible is needed, or if there is an authorization in the patient's file. They inform the patient if there are problems with obtaining authorization for procedures. Offer advice on how to obtain necessary authorizations/referrals or reschedule the patient (if needed).
Qualified candidates will possess:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
1-2 years medical office experience preferred
1-2 years customer service experience preferred
Medical terminology or radiology terminology background
Ability to maintain a professional attitude when speaking with payers, vendors, and agencies representing AHC.
Current knowledge of insurance protocol
Basic PC skills such (e.g. Windows, Microsoft Office)
Must be able to type a minimum of 35 w.p.m.
Ability to use standard office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, printer)
Excellent customer service skills
