This position may involve support of various hospitals and health care systems within the UNC Health Care System, but will be employed by Rex Hospital, Inc. (this includes, but is not limited to, for purposes of payroll, health benefits, retirement options, and applicable policies)
Maintains an environment of safety and privacy for patients, self and others. Meets productivity targets for accuracy and completion of insurance verification and benefits prior to or on the date of service, for scheduled and unscheduled accounts.
Meets productivity targets for accuracy and completion of approval from all payors requiring pre-authorization/prior-approval, prior to or on the date of service for scheduled and unscheduled accounts. Ensures referrals are created and linked to all applicable accounts. Obtains required clinical and financial information when applicable.
Meets productivity targets for all processed accounts. Ensures ADT information is current and accurate to ensure patient safety, charging, coding, insurance processing, and billing accuracy. Completes and documents all governmental, regulatory, and contractual requirements in accordance to procedure.
Meets the productivity targets for accuracy, timeliness, and completion of real time insurance eligibility checks per current process. Ensures customer service by consistently demonstrating a caring, positive, professional, and helpful disposition with all customer relations. Meets patient satisfaction goals for assigned area.
Influences co-worker satisfaction by being self-motivated, a positive communicator, team player, and a willing and approachable resource to other co-workers. Demonstrates willingness to change to ensure continuous improvement. Serves as a resource for all scheduling, registration, case management and clinical departments, as well as physician practices and clinics.
Effectively precepts new Pre-Arrival co-workers when assigned. Meets the productivity targets for accuracy and completion of claim edits for both hospital and professional billing. Meets the productivity targets for accuracy and completion of charge review and follow up for both hospital and professional billing.
Education HS or GED required; College degree preferred. One year of patient access or related experience or training desired.
Prefer experience in healthcare setting with exposure to patient registration or scheduling or insurance authorization processes. Requires exceptional customer service, organizational, and basic computer skills. Medical terminology desired.
Licensure: BCLS preferred
