The Pre-School Instructor is apart-time position (anticipated maximum of 25 hours per week) with no benefits and a preferred hiring range of $17.40 per hour. The ideal candidate for this position will be a leader who enjoys working with children and has a desire to organize and instruct a variety of pre-school activities and programs.
As a Pre-School Instructor, you'll:
Plan and implement pre-school classes, activities, programs, and services;
Instruct children in physical, social development, and readiness skills;
Prepare facilities and materials for program;
Receive, process, and file applications;
Prepare and maintain files and records, including applications;
Enroll program participants;
Enforce program and activity rules and regulations;
Assist with the cleaning and maintaining of facility and equipment;
Receive visitors, answer questions, and provide information about programs and activities.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
18 years of age or older.
Possession of or the ability to obtain CPR/first aid and medication administration certification within 30 days from hire date.
The City's pre-school program is licensed under the Commonwealth of Virginia as a daytime child care center, and candidates must meet minimum standards as set forth by the Virginia Department of Education.
Availability to work Mondays
Fridays from 8:30am
12:30pm from mid-August to mid/late May each year. Two of these shifts each week will require you to work additional hours (from 12:30pm until 3:00pm) for planning sessions. Any deviations from this schedule must fit business needs and will require the approval of the department.
The selected candidate for this position will be subject to the following screenings and must receive satisfactory results:
Drug Screen;
Fingerprinting;
Tuberculosis (TB) Test; and
Criminal Background Investigation.
