Mistakes are not seen as failures, but as opportunities to learn and grow for both students and educators.POSITION SUMMARYProvide students with appropriate instruction, learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESDevelop and implement lesson plans that ful?ll the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.Prepare lessons that re?ect accommodations for di?erences in student learning styles.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that re?ect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Cooperate with other members of sta? for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.Plan and supervise purposeful assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Present positive role model for students, support mission of school district.Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.Use acceptable communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.Participate in the district sta? development program.Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain, and ?le all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on sta? committees as required.Articulate the district's mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identi?ed needs.Demonstrate the use of appropriate and e?ective techniques for community and parent involvement.Maintain regular attendance.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Valid Texas teaching certi?cate with required endorsements: Early Childhood.OHER POSITION REQUIREMENTSAbility to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and instructional materials/supplies.This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state's department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.EXPECTED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships both internally and externallyKnowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and complianceKnowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programsKnowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibilityAbility to interpret laws, rules, and policiesAbility to plan and present information to a variety of audiencesAbility to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skillsSkills in written and oral communication, planning, and organizationKnowledge of current trends, methods, research, and technology in area of responsibilityIn-depth knowledge of assigned program and service areaAbility to collect, analyze and interpret data.ACKNOWLEDGEMENTI have carefully read and understand the contents of this position description.
