Job Description:

Responsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making. Will create daily lesson plans, participate in ongoing professional training sessions for instructional planning based on assessment data, and work with grade-level teams of teachers to collaboratively plan and also form common unit assessments.

Line of Authority/Reports to: Teachers shall be directly responsible to the Pre-Kindergarten Program Supervisor.

Works with: Head of Schools, Principal, Assistant Principal, Pre-Kindergarten Program Supervisor, Faculty, Office Support Staff, Health Services Coordinator, Office Manager, Families and Scholars of Leman Academy.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have and/or obtain:

  • CBI Fingerprint Clearance / Background and Criminal History Clearance

  • Valid CPR/First Aid certification

  • Current TB test (completed within the last 6 months)

  • Abuse and Neglect training

  • FEMA disaster preparedness training

  • OSHA-approved Standard Precautions

  • Introduction to Early Intervention and Special Education Programs

  • Impact of Bias on Early Education

Qualifications Required:

  • ECE 101 and 103 required (ECE 103 substitution Pyramid Plus Approach training) or
  • A current Early Childhood Professional Credential level 2 or higher in version 3.0 as determined by the ECE Department or
  • A current Child Development Associate (CDA) issued by the CDA Council in a Center-Based, Preschool; CO ECE Department-approved credential or
  • A current Teaching License issued by the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) with an endorsement in the area of Early Childhood Education. Preferred or
  • A Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with a major area of study in any area other area and

completion of an additional two (2) three (3)- semester credit hour courses in Early Childhood Education. Preferred or

One (1) of the courses must be either:

a. Introduction to Early Childhood; or

b. Guidance Strategies -or- the Department approved Pyramid Plus Approach training

  • An Associate's degree (60 semester credit hours) from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Preferred or

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degree in: 1. Child Development; 2. Child Psychology; 3. Early Childhood Education; 4. Early Childhood Special Education; 5. Educational Leadership and Administration; 6. Elementary Education; 7. Family and Human Development; 8. Family Studies; or, 9. Special Education, from an accredited college or university Preferred

Duties and Areas of Responsibility:

  • Plan and carry out the provided curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, motor, and social skills.

  • Prepare children for kindergarten by introducing concepts they will explore further in their long-term social and academic future.

  • Provide age-appropriate weekly and monthly lesson plans.

  • Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.

  • Provide various experiences and activities for children, including songs, games, and storytelling.

  • Work with children in groups or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter.

  • Organize activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents.

  • Develop schedules and routines to ensure children have enough physical activity, rest, and playtime.

  • Keep records of the students' progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child's development.

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.

  • Implement appropriate discipline when required.

  • Ensure equipment and classrooms are clean, well-maintained, and safe at all times.

  • Develop activities to stimulate the children.

  • Maintain student records on developmental and academic growth.

  • Be responsible for holding parent-teacher conferences.

  • Establish policies and procedures for inside and outside the classroom.

  • Become familiar with emergency procedures and protocols.

  • Understand and comply with DHS rules and regulations.

  • Set up the classroom to reflect the lessons currently being taught.

  • Ensure students are supervised at all times.

  • Keep parents informed of classroom expectations, program activities, and their child's progress.

  • Discuss student development with parents.

Compensation

Salary Range: $22.00 to $ 34.00 hourly

Leman Academy offers a very competitive benefits package and overall compensation will be commensurate with talent, experience and education.

As a Leman Academy of Excellence Employee, you shall be afforded benefits if you work thirty (30) hours or more each week, all as prescribed in the Personnel Policies of the School, and such revision thereof as are made and approved by the Board of Directors of the School all of which have been adopted by the School. Benefits eligibility and enrollment for Employees working thirty (30) hours or more per week include but are not limited to:

  • Voluntary medical insurance, vision plan, and dental plan; enrollment for Employees beginning employment are effective the first of the month following start date of full time employment unless agreed upon by administration.

  • Life Insurance, Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Long and Short Term Disability benefits are effective the first day of the month following start date of full time employment.

  • Leman is a PERA Employer.

  • If the Employee is terminated, the Employee will be covered with all benefits described above until the last day of the month in which they terminate.

  • Benefits eligibility and enrollment continue for current admin/Employees who sign a new Agreement. Retirement plan and long-term disability eligibility and enrollment are based on the beginning date of employment in the initial Agreement.
