Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Aide

Horizon Science Academy Primary is seeking a full-time Instructional Aide to work with Pre-Kindergarten/Preschool students. The Pre-Kindergarten Instructional Aide will provide support to the educational program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision and instruction of students and managing student behavior.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides instruction to the student in a variety of individual and small group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives and ensuring the student's access to his/her least restrictive environment.

• Intercepts negative behaviors utilizing appropriate approaches for the purpose of diffusing confrontations and minimizing disruptions.

• When not engaged in instructional activities or behavior management, he/she will monitor In School Suspension.

• Exercises self-control and perseverance when dealing with students.

• Supervises individual and/or groups of students in a variety of settings (e.g. recess supervision, restroom breaks, hallways, cafeteria, community field trips, bus loading areas, parking lots, classrooms, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

• Assists in supervising students during any and all emergency drills or during actual emergencies.

• Attends meetings and in-service presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

• Follow all School policies and procedures as stated in the Policies and Procedures Handbook.

• Contribute to a positive climate and culture by exhibiting high professional standards

• Any additional duties as determined by the Principal of the school.

CERTIFICATE/REQUIREMENTS:

• Obtain and maintain Educational Aide permit though Ohio Department of Education; or obtained high school diploma (or higher) with official transcripts serving as evidence; or a valid I Ohio Professional Educator License.

• Required criminal background check.

• Employment may require successful completion of online training courses in areas such as but not limited to: communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, student privacy, behavioral management training, etc.

• Experience in a school or social services setting is a plus
