East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) seeks individuals for paid on-the-job training as Teacher Assistants/floaters in our Head Start preschool classrooms at 8 John H. Chafee Boulevard, Newport, RI.

This position requires that job candidates are willing to participate in training and college coursework to obtain a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within one year of hire. EBCAP will provide or recommend professional development training, and a CDA consultant at no cost to the employee.

College course tuition reimbursement is provided, up to $2,100 per year. College coursework and some professional development training must be completed after work hours. Take advantage of paid training with EBCAP to further your advancement along the child education career ladder!

This is a part-time (25-hour/week) position. The job candidate must have a high school diploma or a GED and

RI Department of Education Certificate of Completion of Teacher Assistant Training or

6 college credit hours in Early Childhood Education coursework.

Other candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of child development, a desire to teach and nurture young children, and a desire to learn and develop new skills as an early education teacher.

Under the direction and supervision of a Lead Teacher, the teacher assistant/float will work with a classroom team of professionals to provide a supportive classroom environment, assist in classroom activities, and ensure that children are always supervised.
