A vacancy exist for the position of Pre-Apprentice Electronics Technician in Communication Services.
Normal Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must possesses a valid up-to-date driver license
An understanding of electrical theory and college algebra
Ability physically bend, stoop, lift and climb, and carry tools for extended periods of time
Ability to climb towers and structures
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to work harmoniously with fellow workers and customers maintaining a positive attitude
Ability to work in the field on an all-day basis, overtime, holidays, weekends, inclement weather, and to travel for out-of-town work.
Ability to work in a manner that prevents injury
Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
There will be a two-part testing procedure required for this position. The first step is a written technical skills test followed by a behavioral based core competency interview. Each step of the process must be passed in order to progress to the next step. We are providing a study outline to prepare for the written technical skills test and the core competency interview. The outline is designed to maximize test results and centralize study times in the areas listed below:

Basic math and algebra

Ability to make calculations using Ohms law
Ability to identify electrical components
Understanding of principals of AC circuits

Behavioral Based Interview
The interview is a behavioral based interview incorporating our Core Competencies. In this process we believe that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior and more recent behavior is a better predictor of future behavior than older behavior, and that long-standing trends are better predictors of behavior than isolated incidents. Position Description:
This job classification is an entry classification position, which is designed to train the employee to assume the responsibilities of an Apprentice Electronics Technician. Under close supervision by an Electronics Technician, the employee assists, acquires knowledge and experience, and progressively learns the craft.
Position-Related Responsibilities:
Perform all the basic duties and less skilled operations in connection with construction, operation, and maintenance performed by personnel in the section.
Learn safety rules, practices and procedures used by the company and the section.
Assist Electronics Technicians.
Perform duties of progressively increasing importance and complexity.
Perform assigned work is a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures
This position may provide services to affiliates of the Company subject to the UNS Energy Code of Conduct and the related Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to climb communications towers and structures
Must be able to travel out of the Tucson area to work on remote Company facilities
Possess a valid driver's license
Must be able to work overtime as deemed necessary by the Company
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Knowledge of basic electronics and algebra
Ability to follow instructions
