The pre and post nurse helps get the cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology patients prepared for their procedure by reviewing the history of the patient, medication reconciliation, drawing labs/starting peripheral IV's, entering data into the EMR, and distributing PO/IV medications prior to the start of the procedure. Post procedure care of the patient includes monitoring radial/femoral access site (including closure devices), monitoring vital signs, post procedure education and discharge instructions.
Hours: PRN shifts per agreement
Under the direction of the Medical/Administrative Director of CV Services, the CVS RN employs professional nursing skills to assure quality care to the cardiac patient. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planningand coordinating diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
The position requires excellent organizational, communication, problem solving and stress management skills. The CVS RN must be able to perform with concise and accurate decision making in emergent, high stress situations.
Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program.
At least 2 years of critical care experience with emphasis on cardiology.
Ability to work independently.
Strong communication and problem solving skills.
Flexibility in assignment to other duties/areas as required. Possibility of working a 12 hour shift.
Professional etiquette at all times.
Competent with Cerner or EPIC, EMR, in data entry and accurate documentation.
