The Men's Sr. Apparel Designer will be a member of our global design and merchandising team. Working within the framework of the line plan, seasonal inspiration themes and the prAna development calendar, the Sr. Designer is responsible for the conceptual design and creative execution of (versatile outdoor, active inspired)/(prAna) apparel that meets the needs of the customer while moving the brand forward. The Sr. Designer conducts seasonal and ongoing market research for trend in silhouette, color, fabric, trim and for activity or product end use to inform new product opportunities. The Sr. Designer provides all presentation material for seasonal launch meetings, inclusive of inspiration and concept boards. The Designer is responsible for the aesthetic execution of the product and collaborates with cross functional teams to ensure product quality, fit and cost targets are met.
The Sr. Designer completes all technical line drawings, creates and builds detailed tech packs for sampling and specifies all label and trim packages. The Sr. Designer collaborates with Merchandising, Product Development, Production and our external vendor base/suppliers throughout the development phase. He/she fosters a culture of collaboration, creativity, innovation and solution-minded thinking that enables prAna to consistently meet customers' expectations and company goals.

Research seasonal trends in activity,silhouette, color, fabric and trim
Work with the Design Director and ProductMerchandise Manager to select and identify fabrics and trims for development,collaborate with Materials and Product Development to source o Provide inputand feedback to Textile, Print & Graphic team to inform development of allover, placement, graphic prints and yarn-dye patterns (layout, colorway pitch,scale)
Articulately convey product concepts to internalteams for adoption and approvals
Prepare all inspiration and trend boards,thumbnail concept sketches, technical line drawings
Manage and ensure updates to CADs/line drawingsare completed with accuracy throughout development season
Prepare and complete with accuracy all initialtech packs: technical line drawings, detail drawings, bill of materials, trimand label packages, seam construction and preliminary fit intention and garmentdimensions
Participate in fittings and partner with
Technical Design team to achieve consistent brand fits that meet designaesthetic vision, customer expectations and return rate objectives
Working within the established color palette,prepare color ups for each style for selection and approval
Create, manipulate and recolor in-house artwork, textile designs/graphics/prints and embroidery when needed
Partner with product development team to ensureon-time style development from initial techpack through pre-production fitapproval
Establish strong working relationship withmerchandising & product development team to achieve margin goals, costtargets through use of appropriate style details, fabrications and construction
Support prAna product team in the creation ofpresentation and visual tools for sales meetings, seasonal kick-off meetings,pre-lines or in house dealer presentations
Share knowledge, expertise with other teammembers, mentor junior team or interns o Attend relevant trade shows, travel tovendors, suppliers and key accounts as requested
Meet all design and product development calendardeadlines
The position has frequent interaction with members of the

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in fashion design
7+ years of design experience in the Men'sSportswear, Outdoor, Active apparel industry across product categories
Proven track record of designing andcommercializing product concepts that meet customer expectations and businessobjectives
Deep understanding of outdoor, active,sportswear market and competitor landscape
Personal experience and understanding of thefeel and fit of outdoor, active apparel
Munsell color test results
Portfolio a must, design project required
Strong command of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop,In Design
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Powerpoint,Entourage and PLM systems
Understanding of textile surface applicationprograms and 3D design tools (Browzwear/Generation Digital/NedGraphics)
Excellent hand sketching, rendering andillustrative skills
Extensive knowledge of knit and woven garmentand fabric construction ranging from synthetic, natural, performance and sustainable fibers Fluent inapparel construction, stitching and material terminology
Knowledge of printing, dyeing and finishingtechniques
Excellent color sense: Munsell color testresults helpful
Schedule and Travel:
Must be able to travel internationally anddomestically
Must be able to work full-time, Monday through
Friday, with occasional extra hours to ensure design deadlines are met
