The successful Associate Product Developer isresponsible for supporting the overallexecution and development of a small scopeof specified products, from concept through productionwhile supporting Product Development department on key support functions underdirection of Product Development Manager. She/he contributes to the Product Development team to achieve department initiatives utilizing creative thinking,critical analysis, time management, andproblem solving skills. She/he reports on the development of his/hercategory as it relates to the calendar, productquality, and margin on a regular basis to ProductDevelopment Manager. The Associate Product Developer works autonomously withgeneral supervision.

Essential Functions

Sourcing:

Incollaboration with Design,Technical Design, Production, and Merchandising and under the direction of ProductDevelopment Manager supports the sourcingof fabrics, trims, construction technology and vendor base to support prAna's vision, sourcing strategy and productrequirements.

  • Communicatesdaily with our domestic & international vendors to enhance prAna's sourcingstrategy, creating respectful, symbiotic relationships for combined growth

  • Assists in communication of costs, MOQ, lead-times and technicalqualities are met per Design's intentions on narrow, specified set of productswithin sourcing strategy

  • Participatesin vendor meetings and suppliers throughout season and at trade shows

  • UpholdsprAna's Environmental Health & Safety program and its impacts on our dailydecision-making, the suppliers we work with, social compliance, and ourconsumer

  • Communicatesdaily with our domestic & international vendors to enhance prAna's sourcingstrategy, creating respectful, symbiotic relationships for combined growth

  • Assists in communication of costs, MOQ, lead-times and technicalqualities are met per Design's intentions on narrow, specified set of productswithin sourcing strategy

Development:

Coordinates the product lifecycle T&A of narrow, specifiedproduct categories based on prAna's development calendar and collaborates with Design, Merchandising, ProductDevelopment,Tech Design and Production teamsto achieve commercial viability of designs. Performs higher level support jobtask on a regular basis to improve Product Development department productivity.

  • Tracks and develops seasonally based need product categories:

  • SMU(special make ups)

  • Countersourcing projects

  • Specialtyproduct capsules (Holiday, Holdback)

  • Executes the development to production of a narrow and specifiedset of products (as mentioned above) encompassing:

  • Billof materials creation

  • Fitsession participation

  • Coordinates technical packets to factory and track incoming protosamples

  • Troubleshoots development process in collaboration with PCT(Product Creation Team)

  • Tracks and monitors artwork/ print development

  • Meets designated target margins by cost negotiations with factorypartners

  • Proactively supports and adheres to calendar deadlines to ensureproduct delivery dates are met

Cross-functionalinteraction with all departments of prAna to 1- deliver the highest qualityproduct in our market, and 2- communicate the product attributes &vision.

  • Makes thoughtful daily decisions to maintain high levels of standards in quality - from development to production

  • Participates in evaluating daily/seasonal processes in Product Development and how we interact with other teams

MarketR&D:

Maintainsknowledge of industry trends and current events to align prAna's product linewith industry progress and growth, as well as, company goals and strategies.

  • Along with Product Creation Teams, shops the current market (comp shopping & trade shows) for competitive garments, techniques, fabrics/trims, fit and assortment

  • Along with Product Creation Teams, provides input in creating the best product possible, aligning with prAna's strategies and seasonal vision

EnvironmentalHealth & Safety:

Understands and works withinpr

Ana's standards of Environmental Health & Safety and how it relates toour employees & consumers, based on: vendor requirements, bluesign certifiedfabrics, sustainable fibers, RSL (Restricted Substances List), Fair Tradeprogram, and social compliance.

  • Develops and applies prAna's Environmental Health & Safetyprogram and how it relates to our daily decision-making, the suppliers we workwith, social compliance, and what it means to our consumer

Educationand Experience

  • Bachelor'sdegree in Apparel &/or Textile ProductDevelopment, Merchandising or Design is required

  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in Product Development

  • Working knowledge of technical apparel construction, fabrics (knits& wovens) & their properties, and trims in the following (Men's,Women's &/or Accessories) categories: Outerwear, Mid-Layer, Performance, Activewear,Swimwear, Lifestyle, Sweaters, Dresses, Accessories

  • Developing knowledge of supply chain transparency and compliance

  • Familiar with costingand negotiating

  • Workingknowledge of: PDMsystems, Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator

TravelRequirements

  • Must be ableto travel occasionally domestically or internationally
