Performs vascular studies on assigned patients. Maintains and equips machines for the daily workload. Performs organizational tasks within the laboratory and collaborates with vascular surgeons to promote appropriateness of studies.
Performs vascular studies on referred patients.
Evaluates patient's medical status and medications prior to study.
Measures and calculates pressures and pulse on peripheral arteries and veins throughout body (carotid, aorta, femoral, popliteal, saphenous).
Conducts studies referred by vascular surgeon or other internist or specialists, as ordered.
Notifies reading physician when study needs to be reviewed.
Operates ultrasonic diagnostic equipment and plethysmography equipment to examine various parts of the body such as upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex and/ or ABI/pvr, carotid duplex, trans-cranial duplex/Doppler, visceral vascular, graft surveillance, vein mapping, EVAR / abdominal aortic duplex.
Maintains equipment by cleaning it and keeping it fully equipped for use.
Washes the machines after each patient use.
Ensures equipment is stocked with necessary supplies to perform daily vascular studies.
Prepares and transmits related reports, as required.
Performs organizational tasks within the department.
Maintains filing and enters vascular studies into database to remain current.
Uses Infection Control practices and procedures including, but not limited to, ensuring sterilized materials meet standards; hand washing and gloving techniques; identifies, monitors and adheres to sterile boundaries.
Performs related duties, as required.
Graduate of an accredited medical sonography program, required.
Demonstrated knowledge of arterial and venous duplex imaging, carotid duplex, trans-cranial duplex/Doppler, abdominal aortic /IVC duplex, ankle brachial index (ABI), Pulse Volume Recordings and segmental pressures, required.
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), required.
Minimum of one (1) year technical experience in vascular technology, required.
