The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
Reporting to the Practice Operations Manager and Director of Practice Administration this role will provide clinic support in the Department of Otolaryngology Head -Neck Surgery in conjunction with providing administrative support through a variety of tasks related to the division.
Responsibilities
This role will ensure patient centered care by demonstrating behaviors that reflect a culture of service and will strive to meet the expectations of the patients.
Assists with the coordination of all activities related to the orderly running of the physician practice and team coverage in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Faculty Practice.
Schedule encounters, including the coordination of all clinical and administrative documentation required for pre authorization.
Manage and maintain clinic and OR schedules to ensure optimal efficiency in epic.
Answer phones and direct calls appropriately; take messages that are clear and legible and disseminate this information to the appropriate parties.
Schedule appointments, office visits, ancillary services, surgical cases, and academic activities in accordance with proper protocols related to rhinology scheduling guidelines.
Secure proper referrals, pre-authorizations and/or pre-certifications for visits, procedures, and surgical cases; verify all insurance eligibility.
Following proper charting procedures; scan patient records and other medical information in appropriate EMR; assist in maintaining patient files in accordance with various governmental and practice standards; obtain physician authorization to release medical records.
Ensure physician billing is in requisite departmental format prior to delivery to billing department; ensure that all patient visits have appropriate billing documentation, including but not limited to, all relevant and accurate patient demographic and insurance information, co-payments, and aged balance collections.
Function as key liaison between physician and hospital operating/procedure room.
This position may require on occasions as appropriate to assist coverage within the department.
Other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge or experience related to insurance verification and authorizations
