- Patient Reception: Checks in and out patients in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary clinic. Will primarily work for check-in and check-out for the Neurosciences Center, which includes the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. Patient volume can range between 200 and 400. Ensures that patients have registered with the Hospital. Assists with the process of coordinating patient information in preparation for the appointment. Distributes, assigns and maintains Radianse (RFID) tags to patients. Assists with issuing Patient Reported Outcome Measure (PROM) surveys (on iPads) to patients. Collects and documents co-pays. Assists with the process of allocating physician exam rooms. Ensures that all additional forms are completed by the patient prior to visit.
2.Scheduling: Performs scheduling both at check-in/out to include initial patient appointments and follow-up appointments. Works with multiple disciplines, both internal and external top the Hospital to book ancillary tests for patients. Schedules patient appointments across Neurosciences divisions. Provide training and assistance to others in these areas. Ability to oversee physicians' schedules to ensure efficiency and utilization.
3.Billing: Performs billing functions to include: working closely with PCP offices and patients, acquires referrals and, as needed, prior authorizations prior to the scheduled visit. Assists with the processes of Billing Customer Service and patient triage to appropriate sources for billing issues and ultimate resolution. Performs co-pay collection activities to be in line with Hospital standards. Utilize knowledge of HMO's, managed care and other thirst party insurers, and troubleshoots insurance issues as appropriate.
4.Administration: Assists with training and orienting staff as needed. Provide cross coverage as needed. Perform duties under moderate supervision with intermediate to advanced proficiency in administrative skills.
5.Communication: Maintains good communication with practice staff, patients, Operations Manager, Operations Supervisor, physicians, and others. Keeps management apprised of ongoing challenges and issues and steps taken wards resolutions. Responds to requests for change that will improve practice conditions. Performs daily functions in a manner, in which is in line with Departmental and Hospital Customer and Safety Standards.
Following Departmental and practice procedures, writes and responds to clinical messages accurately and with attention to detail.
Assist with special projects as assigned
Follows HIPAA guidelines for the management of patient privacy and confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS: (MUST be realistic, neither overstated nor understated, and related to the essential functions of the job.)
Associates Degree and relevant experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Previous experience in a customer service role strongly preferred.
Previous experience in a large, busy ambulatory practice setting strongly preferred.
Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
Previous experience with health insurance preferred.
