Principle Accountabilities:

Assists in the assessment of patient needs and health plan by taking vital signs, blood pressure, patient history, medication listing, assessing visual acuity and determining chief complaint.

Completes all necessary documentation in the patient's medical record in accordance with practice's charting policy.

Prepares equipment and assists physicians with medical treatments, exams and medical procedures.

Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and visitors Arranges for specialized consultations and appointments for testing as ordered by the physicians.

Education

High school diploma required. Strongly prefer graduate of an accredited MA program with greater than two years of medical assisting experience.

Must have one of the following credentials:

  • Active RMA, CMA, NCMA, CCMA, or ABR-OE

or

  • Active CNA, CMT, Phlebotomy Tech Certification, Pharmacy Tech Certification or LPN license

Experience

Ability to prioritize and organize work area. Knowledgeable of HIPAA aspects of medical records.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with patients, physicians, hospital staff, members and health plan representatives in a tactful manner.

Ability to work with patients, doctors, and families to provide optimal levels of patient care.

Demonstrates a professional attitude and appearance.

Legible handwriting. Proficiency in keyboarding skills and experience with electronic medical records and appointment scheduling/billing system preferred.

Strong EMR and EPM system background, with NextGen experience preferred.

Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding.

Experience and knowledge of IPAs/managed care, Medicare, MediCal and other insurance payers' verification methods and processes.

VIEW JOBS 2/12/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-12T00:00 Mercy vICU is seeking Critical Care or Pulmonary/Critical Care physicians to work night shift at our well-established Virtual ICU (vICU) Command Center located at our Mercy Virtual Care Center in West St. Louis County, Missouri. The successful candidate will work from our Mercy Virtual Care Center and will partner with providers in Mercy Hospitals to implement our new model of care. This vICU Critical Care position includes: * Integrated Health System employment with a competitive hourly compensation * At least 10 shifts per month * Flexible scheduling and no call * Comprehensive benefits including health, dental, vacation and CME * Relocation assistance and Malpractice insurance * This position will operate out of our Mercy Virtual Care Center, a state of the art facility in Chesterfield, MO. Mercy vICU monitors more than 475 beds in 28 ICUs over a five-state region. Continued plans for growth is underway, as we continue to market our services to other health systems who are interested in partnering with us to provide extra care to their patients. Critical Care Specialists will be part of an established and expanding team of 59 Intensivists and 85 specialty trained RN's. Mercy Virtual Care Center offers a 120,000 square-foot, state of the art facility and serves as a hub for more than 75 telemedicine programs. Opened in October 2015, the Virtual Care Center is the first and only facility of its kind. Mercy Virtual delivers virtual care services to 600,000 patients across seven states (Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Carolina), improving patient outcomes and access, while reducing total cost of care. Often called a "hospital without beds," Mercy Virtual Care Center operates 24 hours a day and is staffed with more than 300 clinicians.
