Description:

  • This engineer will focus on performing 1D CFD engine simulation and analysis to support engine development. The engineer will be responsible to develop engine simulation model, run the model, post process and communicate results from engine simulations. The individual will receive requests from Engine and Systems specialists and respond with thermodynamic results using the available analytic tools.

  • Air path model development and simulation

  • Turbocharger system modeling

  • Control algorithm development for control engine load, speed, fueling, exhaust temperature, engine out emissions and tailpipe emissions

  • Fast run model and real time model development for virtual control

Requirements:

  • Master of Science degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering or Applied Physics from an ABET accredited university

  • Minimum 4 years' experience in engine performance analysis, engine flow and combustion or related areas

  • Experience with engineering analysis tools for engine modeling and simulation (e.g. GT-Power, Wave or Boost, Star CD, Converge, FLuent etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Outstanding interpersonal and problem solving skills

  • Demonstrated technical problem solving

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Good overall knowledge of internal combustion engines, boosting systems, engine control systems, engine combustion and after treatment

  • Experience in engine experimental/Dyno tests

  • Good knowledge and experience in chemical kinetic mechanism

  • Good skill in programming with commercial software (e.g. Visual Basic, Visual C++ or Matlab Simulink)

Description: * Powertrain Quality Transmission Engineer will be responsible for product development release and quality monitoring activities in collaboration with suppliers, internal Quality, Engineering & Technical Service Operations with a focus on: * Warranty Reduction * Reman and new Service Part Product Design Improvements * Troubleshooting vehicle field issues * Recommendation and implementation of process improvements at supplier manufacturing locations Specific Duties: * Partnering with transmission platform management to execute Remanufactured parts program launch * Manage & resolve transmission launch quality issues and manage continuous improvement activities * Develop program specific quality strategies using benchmark product information * Provide an independent confirmation of the transmission design, test, manufactured and purchased component processes * Ensure completion to an acceptable standard to deliver a quality product to the customer at launch and is responsible for ensuring launched products exceed customer expectations * Monitor customer product quality levels, with a focus on improvement through corrective action and product/process enhancements * Develop relationships and work closely with the various internal Engineering Organizations to ensure transfer of product knowledge within the appropriate service organizations. Basic Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering * Minimum of 5-10 years' of Transmission Product or Quality Engineering experience * Strong technical knowledge of the design and manufacture of transmissions & components * Good understanding of validation test plans & DFMEAs * Knowledge of dealer diagnostics and repair procedures for transmissions * Experience in any of the following environments: Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Testing or Release * Proficient in Microsoft Software: Word, Excel and PowerPoint * Experience of working in a lean/flat organization with cross functional skills * Demonstrated leadership abilities Preferred Requirements: * Quality experience is strongly desired * Manufacturing, design release and or supplier quality experience are also desired * Ability to prioritize current issues, resolve them in a timely manner and effectively communicate issues and solutions to internal teams and our customer * Excellent analytic and problem solving skills Driving Requirements: * Will be required to drive a company car - valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record * Will be required to travel domestically and internationally (0-20%) Altair Troy MI
