The Powertrain Test Instrumentation Engineer Team Lead is responsible for leading a small group of development engineers to provide high quality and timely wiring services to the Powertrain organization ensuring that product development needs and timing milestones are met. This individual will lead all operational aspects of test cell wiring design, prototyping, documentation, and troubleshooting in addition to the supervision of the personnel in this area. Responsibilities include: supporting dyno testing activities by providing wiring harness design, fabrication and documentation, and troubleshooting and repair activities; ensuring that test cell wiring issues are resolved so that the cells are available to support 24/7 testing; developing and managing a harness reuse/rebuild/recondition process when harnesses come off of test; developing a standard test cell interface and infrastructure to ensure a common interface to engine wiring harnesses. Leadership responsibilities also include employee development, providing employee performance feedback at yearly reviews, and ensuring consistent and high levels of quality work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university

  • A minimum of 7 years engineering experience

  • Demonstrated supervisory/management experience

  • Demonstrated experience with vehicle electrical systems and CAN communications

  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple / complex technical and personnel issues

  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, where needed, and to create/sustain energy and drive results

  • Strong personal commitment to product and process improvement and ability to keep focused on delivering results

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills

  • Excellent relationship building skills with ability to work in a cross-functional team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university

  • Master's degree in Business Administration

  • At least 5 years of experience in Powertrain

  • At least 3 years of Dyno Testing experience (engine/transmission/vehicle)

VIEW JOBS 10/3/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-01T00:00 The Powertrain Software Engineer would be responsible for working closely with Controls, Systems and Software Engineering to come up with pre delivery test strategies aimed at early issue/defect detection, Model Based/Assisted Design methodology and document best practices. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining a SW development methodology that encompasses system robustness checks and controls architecture assessments using virtual methods. The engineer will lead the roll-out of SW Quality KPIs and will put in place methods to effortlessly measure & communicate the KPIs and proactively take action as necessary. The person will work alongside PT virtual test platform team, SW tools, Infrastructure tools, MBD & Embedded controls teams to develop and automate systems necessary to carry out the testing. The person will closely interact with PT VnV team and ensure knowledge and technology sharing. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related Engineering degree from an ABET accredited university * Minimum 5 years of embedded software development experience * Minimum 2 years of engineering experience with automotive software development testing both at unit and system level * Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate activities, responsibilities and on-time deliverables across multiple concurrent projects * Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Preferred Qualifications: * Masters of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering * 5 or more years of embedded C/C++ software experience (hand-code or autocode) * Powertrain software experience * MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow experience * Experience with Motorola/Freescale 32-bit processors * Experience with dSpace System Desk * 3 years' experience in Autocode generation using Targetlink or Embedded Coder * Familiarity with microprocessor-based controls and development tools (emulators, debuggers, etc.) * Analytical and Problem solving skills * Strong leadership, organization and communication skills Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Auburn Hills MI
