We're currently looking for a Powertrain Quality Engineer to join our team in Farmington Hills, Michigan.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This role will be responsible for engineering tasks related to powertrain quality.Perform engineering tasks related to powertrain quality. Will be required to conduct statistical analysis of months in service and durability warranty market complaints. Works with design, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure countermeasures for field quality issues are developed and adopted quickly for ICE and Battery Electric Powertrains. Analyzes customer satisfaction syndicated surveys results, identifies weak points and works with related teams to develop countermeasures.Manages the process for engine phase review meeting. Prepares reports for both internal and external presentations.

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Perform engineering tasks related to Powertrain quality, including close monitoring of quality performance for warranty (Months in Service and Durability) and customer dissatisfaction for ICE and BEV Powertrains.

  • Analyzes market indicators (JD Power IQS and VDS, QCS), identifies opportunities for improvement and works with related teams to develop countermeasures.

  • Collaborates with Field Quality Investigation and other related teams (PQE, Mfg, Design, etc) on quick Countermeasure development for issues identified in the market.

  • Responsible areas are Electric Powertrain related Systems and ECUs such as Gate Drivers, Inverter, Motor, Battery, DC Converter and Drivetrain components.

  • Analyzes quality performance reports, and distributes summarized data to project management teams to fix emerging or chronic issues.

  • Organizes and coordinates phase meetings for new developments, reviews documents and manages process.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-3 years of total engineering experience in the automotive industry, work with quality systems preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Basic knowledge of ICE and Electric Powertrain components; engine, transmission, Inverter, Motor, Battery, DC Converter and drivetrain, including main components of the system and basic functions of each component.

  • Working knowledge of quality and problem solving tools (FMEA, FTA, Weibull charts, Decision Analysis, etc.), and statistical process control.

  • Excellent verbal, written communication and problem solving skills.

  • Understanding of automobile electronic, vehicle communication networks such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet etc.

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering method and approach.

  • Experience in using tools required for vehicle diagnosis and Data Collection such as CAN Tools(CANoe / CANalyzer), oscilloscope, Consult 3+, DRV

  • Thorough computer knowledge such as word processor, spreadsheet, other PC applications. Strong knowledge of Excel data analysis tools preferred.

  • Occasional day or overnight travel to manufacturing plants (Canton, Mississippi, Smyrna and Decherd, Tennessee) may be required.
