This is an excitingopportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Powertrain Integration TechnicalSpecialist.

Product Validation.

Relevant workexperience:

  • Vehicle (Conventional and/or Electrified) Fuel Economy and Performance Simulations to define and optimize Powertrain/Electrification Architecture.

  • Vehicle/Engine Duty Cycle analysis, Powertrain Controls, Hybrid/xEV controls.

  • Transmission Systems Integration

  • Vehicle (Conventional and/or Electrified vehicle) Integration etc.

  • Powertrain/Vehicle (conventional and/or Electrified vehicle) FE/Performance/Drivability testing and calibration.

GeneralResponsibilities:

  • Participates as a core team member of a R&D project thereby a key contributor to the project.

  • Defines options for Powertrain Architectures to be evaluated in a R&D project and provides technical direction to the team with minimal supervision.

  • Develop Path to Target for the defined Powertrain Architectures via Vehicle Simulation.

  • Define vehicle accessories, vehicle cooling system, engine and vehicle interface specifications.

  • Develops and leads Powertrain and Vehicle Level test/troubleshooting plan, testing/calibration to deliver Vehicle level Fuel Economy and Performance as per project targets.

  • Document Powertrain/vehicle Systems integration process.

  • Coach and mentor less experienced engineers.

Fundamentals of thermaland fluid sciences, and/or physical chemistry

  • Specialized knowledge in the areas of thermodynamics,fluid mechanics, combustion, and/or physical chemistry. This knowledge includesboth analytical and experimental applications. Ability to apply this knowledgeto areas such as engines, after treatment systems, fuel systems, air handlingsystems, power generation and filtration systems.

Energy conversion systems knowledge

  • Strong energy conversionsystems knowledge. Energy conversion systems knowledge includes anunderstanding of the working principles of power generation, including enginesand systems related to engines, such as after treatment systems, air handlingsystems, fuel systems, and filtration systems.

Thermal and fluid science specialty of interest

  • Specializedknowledge in a specialty of interest in the areas of thermodynamics, fluidmechanics, combustion, and/or physical chemistry. This area is a very broad,requiring focus on a subset within thermal and fluid sciences, with moredetailed knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to the specific areaof interest.

Technical leadership skills

  • Basic technical leadership skillsincluding the ability to lead teams and/or projects that focus on TSFE. Abilityto make sound database decisions.

Communication and teamwork skills

  • Cooperates with others, fullycontributes to achieve the team goal.
  • Applies specialized knowledge of engineering principles and practices across various areas and projects in one or more of the following areas: combustion/performance/emissions, cool/lube/fuel systems, air handling, system integration, after treatment integration, after treatment integration, cycle simulation, vehicle system simulation, combustion system simulation, flow simulation, filtration, or after treatment simulation.

  • Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects and works under minimal supervision.

  • Leads small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.
