Functional safety is a critical proficiency for Ford as Product Development increasingly seeks to implement new powertrain technologies that require safety-critical software/calibration to deliver sophisticated control actions. This need is driven by Ford's desire to continue to be a leader in technologies such as advanced propulsion systems and their integration with vehicle dynamic control, active safety, and driver assistance systems. Only by ensuring that these sophisticated technologies are accurately crafted and calibrated for functional safety, will Ford deliver the highest quality products.
Product Development uses design thinking & user experience methods to deliver breakthrough products and services that delight our customers. We bring innovative, exciting, and sustainable ideas to life. We have opportunities around the world for you to contribute to advancements in autonomy, electrification, smart mobility technologies, and more!
What you'll do…
Lead and Deliver core calibration content for Functional Safety (FuSa) and Dependability (DEP), spanning across various powertrain technologies (Electrified Applications: Power-Split, MHT, BEV; Conventional Gasoline ICE Applications).
Develop and maintain tools and methods critical to the FuSa/DEP calibration teams, such as calibration guidance documentation, vehicle validation methods, error-proofing methods, etc.
Lead FuSa/DEP calibration support of new powertrain technologies. Collaborate with FuSa work product owner(s), Controls personnel and Calibration colleagues, in coordination with FuSa/Dep Technical Specialist, to calibrate/validate experimental software in support of feature development.
Lead innovation workstreams to enable FuSa/DEP calibration/validation efficiencies, such as development and enhancement of automation analysis tools (ex: GTDM), as well as development and enhancement of test methods in non-vehicle based tool chains (ex: HIL, etc.).
Provide FuSa calibration support for quality investigations.
Follow quality process methods to support closure of issues identified during program launch process, as well as items identified following initial product launch.
Some business travel is required to testing locations in Colorado, Arizona, Florida and Raco/Thompson. Average travel is 4-8 weeks per year.
