The Technician will be called upon to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on emissions analyzers and other related test equipment in chassis rolls and engine dynamometer test cells.
Other responsibilities within the lab will include providing wiring support to the test cells and fabricating cable assemblies to support measurement equipment located within the test cells. In addition, the Technician will be working with Engineers to maximize the available run time of test equipment including dynos, data acquisition systems, and a variety of other instruments.
The Technician will participate in a cross-training program to acquire the skills and knowledge to perform other instrumentation-related duties such as maintenance and verification of measurement equipment including fuel flow meters, dynamometers, pressure transducers and temperature sensors.
This is a second shift position. For the first few months, the Technician will work on first shift in order to be trained on the position and then move to second shift after training is completed.
Associates degree in electronics or equivalent
General knowledge of engine and transmission theory of operation
Experience in the field of instrumentation support, test system troubleshooting and repair
Must be familiar with emissions certification procedures and testing
Must be familiar with any emissions-related equipment including the following:
Possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex system problems at the test cell
Good communication skills to interact regularly with engineering support and staff management
Basic computer skills including a good understanding of MS Word and MS Excel
Highly motivated and self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills
2 years or more experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control problems in an automotive test lab environment
Experience with electrical wiring, troubleshooting and repair
Experience using electrical / electronic circuit diagnostic tools such as DVMs and oscilloscopes
Emissions background preferred
