The Technician will be called upon to troubleshoot, repair and perform preventative maintenance on emissions analyzers and other related test equipment in chassis rolls and engine dynamometer test cells.

Other responsibilities within the lab will include providing wiring support to the test cells and fabricating cable assemblies to support measurement equipment located within the test cells. In addition, the Technician will be working with Engineers to maximize the available run time of test equipment including dynos, data acquisition systems, and a variety of other instruments.

The Technician will participate in a cross-training program to acquire the skills and knowledge to perform other instrumentation-related duties such as maintenance and verification of measurement equipment including fuel flow meters, dynamometers, pressure transducers and temperature sensors.

This is a second shift position. For the first few months, the Technician will work on first shift in order to be trained on the position and then move to second shift after training is completed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in electronics or equivalent

  • General knowledge of engine and transmission theory of operation

  • Experience in the field of instrumentation support, test system troubleshooting and repair

  • Must be familiar with emissions certification procedures and testing

  • Must be familiar with any emissions-related equipment including the following:

  • Analyzers

  • Soot Meters

  • Mini-diluters

  • FTIRs

  • Calibration gasses

  • Gas dividers

  • Possess the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex system problems at the test cell

  • Good communication skills to interact regularly with engineering support and staff management

  • Basic computer skills including a good understanding of MS Word and MS Excel

  • Highly motivated and self-starter with good analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years or more experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control problems in an automotive test lab environment

  • Experience with electrical wiring, troubleshooting and repair

  • Experience using electrical / electronic circuit diagnostic tools such as DVMs and oscilloscopes

  • Emissions background preferred

VIEW JOBS 10/15/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-13T00:00 Responsibilities * The Power-train Virtual Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing durability and NVH assessment of transmission housing, mounting, transfer case, adapter, flex plate, torque converter, axles and other trans/ drive-line components using virtual analysis tools. * The engineer will work closely with transmissions / drive-line release groups, power-train integration, suppliers, offshore CAE teams and other functional groups to proactively identify issues, develop solutions and meet program performance objectives and timings. * The engineer will follow established methodologies, identify future improvements in analysis capability and document new analysis procedures. The chosen candidate will use commercial CAE tools such as, Hypermesh, Meshworks, Simlab, Abaqus and Nastran. * Seeking a skilled Power-train Virtual Analysis Engineer with problem solving abilities and inclination towards creating tools and infrastructure that promote organizational efficiencies. * The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing fuel economy, acceleration performance, capability (e.g. trailer tow) and drivability for new vehicles using computer modeling techniques and test data evaluation. * Additionally, they will communicate engineering simulation results and manage MS sharepoint infrastructure through coordination with process development specialists. Occasional work with IT partners to troubleshoot issues may be required. Qualifications * Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university * Good Excel skills. Good communication and presentation skillsStrong Matlab skills. * Experience modeling of conventional and electrified powertrain components and/or systems. Experience creating virtual models and correlate to real world results. * Capable of quickly managing/processing large amounts of data.Working level knowledge of sharepoint is a plus.
