Austin Energy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Power System Graduate Engineer or Power System Engineer to join our Transmission, Substation, and Distribution (TSD) team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the reliability and power quality of our power systems by accessing, analyzing, and interpreting data from protection relays.
Your work will involve fault investigations, power quality (PQ) monitoring, and addressing PQ-related issues across our TSD systems. Additionally, you will be responsible for investigating and analyzing Electromagnetic Field (EMF) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) generated by high-voltage transmission or distribution systems.
This position also requires collaboration with our Corporate Compliance Program (CCP) and other work groups to ensure compliance with various utility regulatory requirements, including NERC, CIP, PRC, and ERCOT standards. Your technical expertise will be essential in developing written fault reports, conducting event analyses, creating procedures, and delivering technical presentations.
As part of the role, you will participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing critical support for our power systems.

In such an emergency, Essential Employees may be called back in, may be required to modify their schedule, may be assigned to a City-designated work site, or may be retained onsite to assist with operations and recovery.
Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekends.
Shifts may change according to departmental needs.
Employees may be required to work additional hours outside of the regular work schedule.
