EasyPower:Power System Engineer Technical Support

EasyPower is looking for a self-starting individual to join its team as a Technical Support Engineer. In this role, you will work as a member of our technical support team to provide the highest quality software and engineering support to our customers. They will need to talk to customers directly, as well as create written documentation, requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills. If you enjoy working and interacting with customers and helping them solve their technical problems, this position is for you!

Job Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of customer issues reported and see problems through to resolution
  • Research, diagnose, troubleshoot and identify solutions to resolve customer issues
  • Follow standard procedures for proper escalation of unresolved issues to the appropriate internal teams
  • Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers
  • Ensure proper recording and closure of all issues
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports
  • Create knowledge base including technical notes, and articles
  • Develop and demonstrate expertise in EasyPowers software products
  • Provide on-call support for holidays and afterhours.

Skills Required

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent work experience
  • 1-2 years related experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency with all modern Windows operating systems
  • Comfortable troubleshooting software and network problems
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Desired Experience

  • Microsoft SQL Server experience
  • Experience with Knowledge Centered Support
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience with power systems or using power system design and analysis software

This is an emerging, exciting technology, and the right person will help invent the future of transportation in the industry. This engineer will be developing innovative High Voltage PowerNet architecture focused on reliability safety by collaborating with other regional and global business units. In addition, this position will also help drive HV requirements and standards for various HV consumers, and establish simulation methods and processes for early design research and development. This is an exciting and highly collaborative role that will be inventing processes and designs that push the envelope of the industry.</p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Support companywide development and launch of zero emissions vehicles (ZEV) at Daimler Truck North America.</p></li><li><p>Define HV topology requirements and definition of safety requirements, including fuses, contactors, and other sub-components.</p></li><li><p>Calculate vehicle-level X-capacitance/Y-capacitance, energy calculations, and short-circuit currents.</p></li><li><p>Create high voltage (HV) system design and specification for next generation battery electric class 7 and 8 trucks.</p></li><li><p>Develop the safety concept for the HV System that is compliant with HW and SW.</p></li><li><p>Lead engineer and internal expert for HV systems at DTNA, consulting with other groups as needed on HV requirements and safety.</p></li><li><p>Create the functional safety concept (FSC) and Technical Safety Concept (TSC) in accordance with ISO26262.</p></li><li><p>Build a database of all electrical requirements so component owners can easily create component</p></li></ul><p>specifications for RFI and RFQ.</p><ul><li><p>Lead HV decommissioning and recertification process and documentation.</p></li><li><p>Key coordination with internal and external resources to meeting project deliverables, including vendors, contractors, and colleagues from other countries and Daimler Trucks business units.</p></li><li><p>Research, develop, design, and test high &amp; low voltage electric components, equipment, systems, networks, electronics, and standards.</p></li></ul><p>Basic Required Skills &amp; Experience:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor's degree in engineering with focus on electrical, power systems, or related engineering field is required.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of heavy-duty electric trucks' high voltage system and components required.</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of high voltage power distribution and safety (short circuit, touch current, x-cap/y-cap, cable conductor sizing) is required.</p></li><li><p>Experience with high voltage power systems over 60VDC is required.</p></li><li><p>Experience with Functional Safety ISO26262 is required.</p></li><li><p>Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment, bringing colleagues together to accomplish a common goal is required.</p></li><li><p>Must be well-organized, able to handle multiple, detailed tasks, and work professionally with various levels of DTNA management is required.</p></li><li><p>Customer orientated with a real sense for the marketplace is required.</p></li><li><p>Excellent management and leadership skills is required.</p></li><li><p>Strong interpersonal skills and, oral and written communication skills is required.</p></li><li><p>Moderate travel as needed (5-20%) is required.</p></li><li><p>Detail oriented, reliable, and self-motivated is required.</p></li><li><p>Must be self-motivated to learn new areas and promote unique ideas.</p></li><li><p>Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.</p></li><li><p>Ability to work in an environment of ambiguity and ongoing change is required.</p></li><li><p>An attached resume is required.</p></li></ul><p>Basic Preferred Skills &amp; Experience:</p><ul><li><p>Experience on electric vehicles and high voltage DC automotive systems is preferred.</p></li><li><p>Experience with high voltage electric powertrain components such as batteries, inverters, power distribution, DC/DC converters, and electrified accessories is preferred.</p></li><li><p>Languages: English (fluent); German (Intermediate) preferred; additional language(s) appreciated.</p></li></ul><p>Typical Minimum Qualification:</p><ul><li>Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical or High Voltage Power Distribution.</li></ul><p>#LI-AK1</p><p>Work Location Opportunity:</p><p>This position is open to consideration at the following locations:</p><ul><li>Portland, OR</li></ul><p>Daimler Trucks North America is firmly committed to developing a work environment that supports empowerment and inclusion for our current and future employees.
