About Transmission and
Southern CaliforniaEdison's (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D)is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, andmaintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion inassets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents viaSCE's 5 million customer accounts.
This position will be inthe Grid Operations division within Southern California Edison's (SCE) Transmission& Distribution Organization Unit. The successful candidate will performtechnical studies that evaluate outage requests to ensure that an acceptablelevel of reliability is maintained while minimizing cost impacts to the O&MBudget.
Provide advice and support to the Grid Control Center (GCC) on technical issues related to operations of the SCE transmission systems, including remedial action schemes, system operating bulletins, and operating procedures.
Perform technical studies to identify coordination issues of multiple equipment outages; prepare and deliver the Daily Checkout in support of the GCC Transmission Dispatchers in order to keep them apprised of the next day's scheduled outages.
Interface with the California ISO in processing and approving scheduled outages of the bulk electric system and interface with Operating Engineering in determining adequacy of reliability by simulating requested equipment outages.
Assist the Program Engineers in coordinating outages in support of capital project work
Interface with switching center personnel to ensure that proper processes and procedures are followed in submitting requests for equipment outages.
Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Eight years or more of experience in electric system operations.
Two years or more of experience conducting technical studies, performing analyses, coordinating outages on the electric system, and developing recommendations.
Two years or more of experience with bulk electric system operations, including demonstrated knowledge and experience with ISO operations and control of the generation and transmission system.
Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word Excel
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
NERC Certified System Operator.
Demonstrated knowledge of NERC standards, WECC policies, CAISO procedures
