The posted salary range budgeted for this position is between $5,521.58 and $7,288.58 monthly. New hires will be typically brought into the agency at a starting salary between the posted minimum and the average pay of employees in their same classification in the Office of Technology unless the average pay exceeds the midpoint for the state position's classification salary group. Offers will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and qualifications and will thoughtfully consider internal pay equity for agency staff who perform similar duties and have similar qualifications. The top half of the posted salary range is generally reserved for candidates who far exceed the requirements and qualifications for the role.

Position Overview

The Power Platform Administrator will manage and optimize the Microsoft Power Platform environment at TEA. The administrator oversees security settings, permissions, and data access, ensuring a security and compliant environment. The administrator will also provide user support by troubleshooting issues and conducting training to enhance user proficiency. The Power Platform Administrator is also responsible for establishing governance frameworks, implementing policies and practices to govern Power Platform usage and maintain compliance with data protection regulations. This role will effectively collaborate with IT teams, business partners, and developers for seamless integration and support.

This position will report to the Power Platform manager and work under minimal supervision with extensive deadlines.

About Office of IT

The Office of Information Technology works closely with all agency divisions to implement innovative technology solutions in a cost-efficient manner that supports the goals and priorities of the Texas Education Agency. The Office of IT provides efficient technology solutions and stellar customer services to internal staff, 20 Educational Service Centers, and 1,200-plus public-school districts and charter schools. The following services are provided by IT: leadership on IT initiatives; guidance on security/policy issues; new application development/enhancements; software acquisition; technical support; assistance with technical sections of purchasing documents such as Request for Information (RFI), Request for Offers (RFO), Request for Proposals (RFP); and oversight on the data collection process which helps to support and improve outcomes for all of Texas' 5 million-plus students.

Essential Functions

Job duties are not limited to the essential functions mentioned below. You may perform other functions as assigned.

1.Configuration and Customization: customize and configure Power Platform applications to align with organizational needs

2.Security Management: implement and manage security settings, permissions, and data access controls within the Power Platform

3.User Support and Training: provide ongoing support, address queries, and conduct training programs to enhance user proficiency in Power Platform tools

4.Environment Management: set up and manage environments to facilitate organized development, testing, and deployment of Power Platform applications

5.Monitoring and Optimization: continuously monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize the Power Platform for efficient operation

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Experience: At least five (5) years of experience as a cloud administrator with hands on experience administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform components.

  • Substitutions: Each additional year of related experience above the required minimum may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Other Qualifications

  • Proficient with Azure Active Directory

  • Understanding of AAD Object management, security groups, and conditional access

  • Solid understanding of data relationships, data entities, and normalization principles

  • Familiarity with building Power BI reports and visualizations in Power BI

  • Strong understanding of data governance and Security across Power Platform and D365

  • Strong understanding of D365 CRM functionalities to enhance experience with customer service teams

  • Strong understanding of data security best practices, access controls, and auditing is essentials

  • Proficient in working effectively with developers, business owners and other stakeholders for successful deployments

  • Good Problem-solving and analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and identify areas of improvement

  • Experience helping users adapt to new applications and workflows

  • Power Platform Fundamental license is preferred
