Design, implement and test embedded software and control algorithms for variable speed motor drives
Assist in developing product specifications, architecture, schedules, design documents, DFMEA and safety agency certification
Assist in developing and documenting test procedures and standards for engineering as needed
Assist in performance and qualification testing of variable speed motor drives
Obtain, review and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance and coordinate software releases to certification labs to obtain product and agency safety approval
Assist and coordinate full time and contract software engineering resources to meet project development schedules and objectives.
Assist in engineering change and release of the embedded controls software for variable speed drives.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related major plus 5 years of engineering experience with an emphasis on embedded motor control software design and development or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of power electronics hardware and embedded software design including micro-controllers, digital and analog circuits on several platforms
Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of field oriented control of motors, sensor-less motor control and advanced algorithm development
In depth knowledge of multiple power electronics inverter and converter topologies, architectures and control
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Skilled in working with multiple functional groups in a new product development environment
Preferred seven to ten years of power electronics design experience within an industrial company with an emphasis on motor control software design and development
Advanced degree in Electrical/Control/Computer Engineering or related filed in Power Electronics Design Engineering
Strong technical project management and problem solving skills
Experience working with Matlab/Simulink, hardware in the loop simulation, schematic capture and simulation tools
Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel both inside and outside the engineering organization

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through or 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
