Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a passionate Power Electronics Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our Powertrain & Electronics Manufacturing Engineering Team in San Carlos, CA. The Power Electronics Lead Manufacturing Engineer will lead new product introduction and ramp-up of Joby aircraft propulsion inverter through implementation of manufacturing equipment and new processes, and working closely with cross-functional teams. This individual must be highly organized and self-driven while possessing a deep understanding of manufacturing scale-up, mechanical & electrical fundamentals, equipment and quality systems. This position is exciting and rewarding, as the Lead Manufacturing Engineer will promptly see their ideas influence many key areas due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation.
Responsibilities
Lead manufacturing efforts related to the propulsion inverter. This includes assembly and testing in-house, and scale up of manufacturing with key partners
Guide the team to manage equipment projects with internal and external equipment suppliers to deliver production intent equipment
Manufacturing capacity ramp up of the production line to meet key milestones
Develop inter-team and intra-team level processes to facilitate efficiency and high performance
Report manufacturing line readiness progress to the management team
Coordinate with design for design changes, quality for reaching product excellence, and equipment team for meeting equipment readiness milestones
Develop and communicate clear expectations for project deliverables to the manufacturing team
Develop and present tooling and equipment budget for approval to management, and track cost
Required
BS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent
7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
2+ years of experience managing a team of engineering in manufacturing
Experience in process development and performing process validations for manufacturing
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals
Experience in either electric motor assembly, power electronics or complex electro-mechanical assembly processes, tooling and equipment
Excellent problem solving and teamwork skills while working with cross-functional teams
Passion for diving into the details and providing constructive feedback to the team and other cross functional teams

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $92,200-$149,700/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
