Join our power delivery engineering team as a 2019 summer intern supporting our Distribution team. In order to qualify for the summer internship program you must be pursuing a undergraduate or masters level degree in a related engineering field with a valid drivers license and reliable transportation.

As a Distribution engineer, you can expect to:
Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to broad variety of assignments and related fields.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects
Works on small projects or portions of larger projects. Supports development of standards and engineering guidelines, conducts analysis on system performance and reliability strategy and provides recommendations.
Leverage new technology and Smart Grid solutions to provide superior service to our customers
Exercise project management, negotiations, performance tracking and reporting
Communications, presentations, meetings and support
Participate in all aspects of engineering design, permitting and construction
Work with other departments within the organization to establish customer requirements and project costs
Interact with customers that you encounter to ensure award-winning customer service
Apply design skills and utilize design programs to maintain and enhance our electric grid

Job Overview

Employees in the role will be provided mentoring and practical hands on experience for relevant career-related activities encountered in the students area of study or specialization. To be considered for this position the applicant must be actively enrolled at a college or university as a full-time student seeking a bachelors degree or higher. Candidate must also have a current GPA of 3.00 or higher (on a 0.00 to 4.00 scale).

Presents final project to senior leadership at the end of the internship

Thousands of organizations across a variety of industries have depended on Hawkins for the chemical products they need since 1938. The Hawkins Water Treatment Group supplies products and equipment to treat drinking water, municipal and industrial wastewater, industrial process water, non-residential swimming pools and agricultural water treatment. ABOUT THE JOB Hawkins is looking for a dedicated Route Delivery Driver who will be responsible for route deliveries of a variety of chemical products. This position will be based out of Hollywood, FL, and will be responsible for doing the job safely and efficiently while upholding Hawkins high standard of excellent customer service. Responsibilities: * Know the process and equipment needed to handle, store and transport chemical material safely. * At warehouse or customer location, load and unload all chemicals, totes, tanks, drums, bags, cases, etc. for the route, consisting of +/- 15 stops per day with upwards of 200 miles of driving per day. * Perform tank transfers, gallon calculations, container filling, dump drums, move 50-100 lb. sacks. * Perform "in process" analytical methods to maintain quality standards and take corrective action as needed. * Completely fill out required paperwork, including shipping and receiving paperwork, plant data sheets, inventory sheets, inspection reports, and other reports as required. * Provide routine minor maintenance to process equipment and instrumentation, including equipment on truck. * Follow all safety procedures and safely operate motorized and non-motorized equipment and vehicles, including double-axle tandem truck, forklift and pallet jack, while complying with all applicable laws, regulations and standard operating procedures. * Uphold Hawkins standard of excellence through a continuous commitment to maintaining quality products and services to internal and external customers. ABOUT YOU * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Ability to obtain and maintain a Class B Commercial Driver's License with Hazardous materials endorsement. * Ability to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written channels. * Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment preferred, previous experience handling chemicals is preferred. * Team player, customer focused, positive attitude. * Ability to perform basic computer functions such as email and data entry. Physical Requirements: * Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs. frequently, and push/pull drums up to 700 lbs. * Ability to sit, stand, and walk up to 12 hours per day, perform manual dexterity tasks, and turn, twist, stoop, bend and reach as necessary. * Able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 20 feet, on occasion. * Ability to work in typical inside and outside conditions, including noise and temperature variances. * No exposed jewelry or body piercings when in a production area. * Ability to wear a respirator for up to 2 hours a day.
