Position Description

The Power BI Developer is responsible for the end-to-end development of business intelligence solutions using Microsoft Power BI. This includes gathering requirements, designing data models, and creating interactive dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights to stakeholders. The Power BI Developer works closely with business analysts and data engineers to transform raw data into meaningful visualizations that support data-driven decision-making processes. This role involves ensuring data accuracy, optimizing report performance, and providing user training and support. The developer is also expected to stay current with the latest Power BI features and industry best practices to continuously enhance BI capabilities within the organization. This role is expected to adhere to all company policies and safety protocols.

Key Competencies Required to be Successful as a Power BI Developer:

  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and datasets to provide actionable insights.

  • Design and implement data models in Power BI to support reporting requirements.

  • Create and manage data connections and transformations using Power Query and DAX.

  • Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all reports and dashboards.

  • Optimize the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards.

  • Provide training and support to end-users on Power BI functionalities.

  • Stay updated on Power BI features and industry best practices to continuously improve BI solutions.

  • Develop documentation for BI solutions and processes.

  • Participate in data governance and compliance initiatives to ensure data integrity and security.

  • Manage budgets related to BI projects.

  • Provide cost-benefit analyses for Power BI solutions and reporting tools.

  • Monitor and control spending on Power BI licenses and related resources.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Licenses

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field, and 3+ years of experience in BI development with a focus on Power BI within a large-scale organization.

  • Relevant certifications in Power BI or data visualization tools preferred.
