Requirements

The person in this role will work closely with multiple teams to optimize workflow, enhance service delivery, and improve business processes with better analytics and business intelligence solutions.

  • Building analytics and business intelligence solutions and capabilities by gathering data from various sources.

  • Identifying, collecting, analyzing, and maintaining data to evaluate issues that support prospective business decisions.

  • Technical lead for the technologies used to develop the presentation and distribution layer of BI solutions.

  • Define requirements for data warehousing and analytical data structures.

  • Create reporting/dashboard solutions across business departments; support reporting/analytics projects prioritization and planning as well as conduct due diligence concerning business implications of planned solutions.

  • Identify and escalate risks to management appropriately, while managing stakeholder expectations and relations.

  • Contribute and collaborate within and across teams in accomplishing assignments and prioritizing tasks effectively working with BI Analysts, DBAs, Developers, Data Analysts.

  • Work with data owners to access strategic data sources and understand data lineages; and leverage knowledge of key company systems to derive meaningful data analytics.

  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely data for reporting purposes.

  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for Power BI reports and other Power BI tools.

  • Support and collaborate with Database Administrators and Developers.

  • Aggregate, organize, build data models, and visualize data to communicate effectively across all teams and stakeholders.

  • Maintain a variety of quality assurance and quality control activities.

  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor's degree in related fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Data Visualization and Physics;

  • A minimum of four working years in analytics, data warehousing, business analysis, and/or BI reporting and dashboards or combination of relevant college coursework and experience.

  • 5+ years working on complex analytical projects with diverse teams and developing data driven and outcome-based initiatives to improve business decision making and operational efficiencies.

  • 3+ years of experience developing rich, easy-to-use, interactive, and visually appealing data visualizations; conceptualize and build tools and dashboards that empower stakeholders, enable them to access data and raw insights in a self-serve manner.

  • 2+ years producing agile, ad-hoc analysis based on high-level requirements while working closely with stakeholders to refine criteria based on iterative reporting, dashboards and metrics/KPI prototype results.

  • 2+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server, Integration Services and Reporting Services required.

  • Procedures and methods for testing business functions within computer systems.

  • Experience working with large and diverse RDBMSs, OLAP, OLTP data stores, such as Oracle, SQL Server, and Teradata.

  • Experience in data extraction, data manipulation, analysis and reporting required.

  • Software Development Life Cycle and development concepts.

  • Experience building executive, analytical, and operational dashboards and report.

  • Expert knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or other BI tools) required.

  • Expert TSQL scripting abilities and understanding of complex stored procedures, views, data aggregation/manipulation through table joins/queries, database design, normalization, and de- normalization techniques.

  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis tools/languages such as SAS, R, DAX, Python and Microsoft Excel is preferred.

  • Knowledge of Master Data Management strategies, tools and techniques preferred.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Tools.

  • High-level technical understanding of application architectures and database architecture.

  • Techniques to visualize a systems architecture using tools such as Unified Modeling Language.

  • Procedures and methods for testing business functions within computer systems.

  • Principles and practices of producing effective project documentation.

  • Work independently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate intense curiosity to understand how complex systems and challenges "work."

  • Demonstrate desire to seek out complex challenges that others may avoid and are relentlessly driven to improve them.

Benefits

The annual salary for this position is between $100,000 to $120,000, depending upon factors such as qualifications, experience, skill levels, technical competencies, and other criteria.

Location & Work Environment

This position is full-time and offers a hybrid work arrangement. Working three to four times a month onsite in Lansing is required if you are in Michigan's lower peninsula.
